Our latest paper is out in Alzheimer's and Dementia!!
Non-APOE variants predominately expressed in smooth muscle cells contribute to the influence of Alzheimer's disease genetic risk on white matter hyperintensities.

.... but, as always, it wouldn't have been possible without Tom's brilliant student in Bath or those from the DRI in Cardiff. Grateful to everyone involved and to those who gave their time to the big datasets we use for these types of projects.
🧠 Blood flow & immune response are key to understanding dementia. The @alzheimerssoc funded VIDA DTC unites 4 UK institutions to train future leaders tackling these challenges. 9 PhD's available, 14 projects to choose from. Apply by 20 Dec

Hey RCM ...
I'll be positive about birth when I see
-a massive reduction in preventable stillbirths and neonatal deaths
-a massive reduction in neonatal brain injury
-a massive reduction in severe perineal injuries and other serious maternal harms
-a science literate overview of the benefits and risks of all clinically reasonable options for managing birth given to every patient
-individualised, ongoing risk assessments for every patient
-every patient can decide between expectant management, IOL from 39w or planned cs and the full range of pain relief options
-a low threshold for identifying potential problems and recommending and providing medical interventions to prevent serious harms
-eradication of pseudoscientific BS being provided or endorsed by licenced maternity health care professionals
-access to newborn nurseries for parents to use as they see fit as they recover from birth
-the same principles applied to infant feeding
Thank you please ... looking forward to a positive direction in birth 🙌
Please RT if this is the positive narrative you'd like to re:birth in the U.K.
Just got to Wales & everyone is so friendly!
People actually notice and look
at each other, smile & want to have a conversation.
It’s so lovely!
What’s wrong with us moody lot in London?! 😂
We're still looking for a postdoc in M/EEG, interested in oscillations, sleep, neural mass models + more... 3 year post!
Come help us study the effects of CNVs on brain dynamics.
& also plenty of other projects to get involved with.

The strikes this week have not been caused by junior doctors
They’ve been caused by a Government that has taken healthcare professionals for granted for far too long
Please RT if you can see through the Government spin and back the junior doctors
All they want is fair pay.
Not quite sure why there is so much fuss about this drug for Alzheimer's.
Seems to accelerate brain atrophy and possibly increase the risk of dying for modest short-term clinical benefit. Waaaay off primetime
