Shocked to have been refused entry for my breastfeeding infant at Oslo Ranelagh today, breastfeeding is normal and breastfed infants need to be with their mothers, we have a long way to go to support mothers/normalise breastfeeding.@GColleranMD @afif_elKhuffash @drdoolan
Have to be resolute on this.
Last time we abolished shifts longer than 24 hours yet this weekend a host of NCHDs will be working 72 hours through.
Goodwill hasn't been taken advantage of, it has been routinely abused when staffing hospitals and building rosters.
If only the Irish people were half as vocal about the state of the HSE as they are about our main airport/national airline. Instead, people on the frontline are continually bashed and abused for delays and poor conditions. We hate it too. No wonder we can’t get out fast enough.
It is ironical that doctors try to address patients' hierarchy of needs on behalf of the state and society, but NCHDs are denied the basics by our health service. #StandingUp4NCHDs
IMO to commence talks next week with Department of Health and HSE on NCHD issues.
Industrial action, including strike action, can only be avoided if there is serious engagement to address the unsafe and illegal working conditions of NCHDs.

"The public can see what’s happening & they have been incredibly supportive so far because they do not want their mother, father, brother or sister to go into an Irish hospital and their care to come under an exhausted doctor” #StandingUp4NCHDs

'You start the job with the assumption that if you put your heart and passion and energy into the role, then you will go on to help people'
But what if you barely have time for self-care/ attend to your basic needs/ plan for a🏡or👨👩👧👧?
Eventually, it leads to burnout.
