This is unacceptable period but especially in the climate of black mortality and morbidity rates in the U.S. Who better to educate midwives than the HBCU’s. Who better to understand the importance of being culturally congruent than HBCU’s. ???
@RJEpiOBWarrior To the author & actors in this video you are out of line, and plain wrong. You need to be re-educated about bias, racism. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, you wouldn’t even make it around the corner. You should be non judgemental, here to help not make assumptions.

A special time of bonding, sharing solutions to improve maternal healthcare. The reduction of health inequities will take a multidisciplinary approach. Sharing the success of many programs to provide access to care, and mentoring of more BIPOC midwives. #nbma#acnm#transitionswhc
NBMA has also been representing at the annual ACNM conference, which kicked off on Saturday in Chicago! It has been so inspiring to see so many powerful Black midwives at both the ACNM and Alabama conferences! #blackmidwivesstrongtogether#alabamablackmidwives#acnm#nbma
@black_midwives It was wonderful being present at ACNM and being able to meet our midwifery colleagues and fellow health equity advocates in person. I was a speaker at ACNM, and presented on “Recognizing Implicit Bias: ACT to Improve Maternal Healthcare.”
This group agrees that the narrative must change. Women deserve to know that they’ll be heard, supported, and safe giving birth in the Bronx.

Today, I spoke with doulas, midwives & birthing advocates about Black Maternal Health to better gauge the needs of the community as we embark on our journey to creating the first ever Bronx Birthing Center.
▪️The Bronx has the highest mortality rate in New York state.
Happy #WorldDoulaWeek! 💜
We are so happy to have worked with so many amazing doulas who have been changing the world one mama at a time. Doulas are essential to helping us give mamas the prenatal, birthing, and postnatal advocacy and support they deserve 🙌🏾
During #BMHW22 we will be hosting a virtual symposium on Tues. 4/12. Champions of Black maternal health will share the latest resources, & research related to birth equity & reproductive justice. Stay tuned for updates by subscribing to our newsletter https://t.co/gCGGgk7y7G
@LucindaCantyPhD I’m so happy to have this chance to celebrate Doula’s this week. They are supportive to birthing persons and their families, and need to be welcomed in every setting as an essential part of the team. Dr.J
