Honoured to work with 277 scientists co-authoring the latest @IPCC_CH report on #mitigation of #climatechange. Overwhelming the message is that the time for #action is now. We have the tools and know-how to change. We must collectively act today. Report: https://t.co/9jDBUhVq0J

Netanyahu bizarrely says UNRAH must be held accountable as his govt slaughters civilians with impunity, starves innocent Palestinians and bombs essential infrastructure to rubble. Genocide, ethnic cleansing, war crimes abound and he attacks an aid agency! https://t.co/LbpS2cuC7a
@CatherineKingMP@Bowenchris For anyone interested in actual details rather than a beat up by vested interests.. the proposed exemption is effectively for 6 months (not years..). 3.5t+ vehicles haven't been required to report CO2 data so they can't be assessed in NVES without it. Will be sorted by 2026.
Successive LNP govts are to blame for large utes not being included in the new vehicle efficiency standard in 2025. Current govt is cleaning up their mess. From 1 Jan we will finally be sending a strong signal that Australians deserve more efficient cars https://t.co/xjATHdxjxF
And govt intends to include large 3.5t+ utes by 2026, giving them an extra 6 months (once penalties begin) to comply and get their emissions data sorted. A pragmatic + reasonable approach given the mess they've had to clean up in Aus transport policy @CatherineKingMP@Bowenchris

Congratulations to the govt. #NVES is a long over due reform that successive govts have failed to deliver. An outstanding achievement and another step on the journey towards decarbonising our #transport system while reducing fuel bills + kicking our dependency on foreign oil
Australians are one step closer to getting better access to cleaner, cheaper to run cars. Our New Vehicle Efficiency Standard has passed the House of Representatives and now goes to the Senate.
