8 weeks working in Australia.
I’m in the lowest paid state for nurses in Oz and I’m earning more in a fortnight than I used to earn in a whole month in England, my birth country, the place where I trained to be a Registered Nurse, the place that doesn’t value me or my skills.
#Nursing #InternationalNurse
This weekend in A&E, I saw patients who couldn't get GP appointments
And I worked with GPs who couldn't get jobs as GPs
@NHSEngland make it make sense please as i can't.
If Government serious about this crisis it will need to free up more medical staff so should scrap useless medical appraisal and validation system that wastes two days a year and is major cause of early retirement @DHSCgovuk https://t.co/Y3lHGy6nx5
@anish_k_patel I agree with you and I think GP trainers should consider the poor/inappropriate funding as an extension of the Collective Action - GPs do so much for the next cohort of GPs through charity. The pay is no where near commensurate
Deprescribing can occur quickly when a patient goes low carb. I have previously written a protocol for diabetes medication and have now added a deprescribing protocol for antihypertensives. You can find it on our website lowcarbfreshwell under “Professionals”. Feedback welcome!
The brand new FREE Freshwell low carb food barcode scanner app is now available to download! 😀 It’s been built to help people make healthier food choices and avoid highly processed food. https://t.co/0RLbw3CPIk
This paper has not been celebrated by everyone in the low carb community but I agree with @zoeharcombe it does at least show what diet can do in T2D and helps wean us off our current dependence on drug treatments https://t.co/tDhpzpS2DS
Great that resident doctor pay negotiations have started. But with the current proposal:
Doctor starting salary: £36,000
PA starting salary: £46,000
NO doctor should be paid less than their assistant! It makes no sense whatsoever & is an insult.
Great to know that I couldn't get a job in radiology with a BSc, MBCHB with honours and MSRA score of 573! Wish someone had told me that all I had to do was become a PA... 🤬
🚨 We are witnessing the RAPID replacement of GPs with non-doctors
Ppl who’ve NOT studied medicine- yet are permitted to diagnose & treat undifferentiated patients in 1° care
NHSE are telling the public they NEED these roles due to a “GP shortage”
This is a lie.
We have thousands of unemployed GPs right now.
There’s no shortage of GPs.
Only a shortage of JOBS for GPs.
They WANT to replace GPs - the question we deserve an answer to is WHY?!
1) Why are GPs being made redundant & replaced by ppl with SIGNIFICANTLY less training
2) Why are patients’ rights to see a doctor being taken away?
3) Why is this being done without public consent?
Last night my bike was stolen from outside sea lanes. I’m currently training to ride the tour de femmes 1 day ahead of the pros raising vital funds for @CureLeukaemia. If anyone knows anything about this please contact me. @brightontriclub @brightontri please share
last night there was a shocking tv expose on NHS A&E care.
But what's truly shocking is that for those of us who work in A&E, we're not shocked.
We have become normalised to the unacceptable.
The unacceptable is now the accepted norm.
Society cannot continue to accept this. Our patients deserve better
@DrRobgalloway Didn’t see it but I can tell you I’ve got frail elderly patients voicing terror at the thought of having to be admitted acutely requiring 2dry care input for reversible illness when I’ve got no option but to go via ED. Sounds tough for patients and staff alike in the thick of it
Took an Uber home on Tuesday evening from Central London.
The person driving was a qualified GP unable to get work.
Post CCT, 100+ applications / CV drops to salaried roles around Herts & Bucks.
It blows my mind that we’re at a point where it’s deemed “offensive/elitist” to say that patients who need to see a GP should see an actual GP
Seriously?!!
The public have no idea how close we are to a two tier healthcare system in the UK
- a private doctor led for those who can afford it & an “NHS” PA led for those who can’t
It’s being steamrolled at a pace that’s truly breathtaking & it’s shocking to see the complicity of our own medical organisations
All of this being done behind our back - it’s a betrayal of the highest order!
Just spent a shift in A&E dealing with the consequences of poor diet and obesity
Hungry so went off to get some food
And this was what was for sale.......
As a society we need to stop health problems not just treat them....
