FSM help to reduce obesity and health inequalities & lead to improved longer term health.👇🏽
🔥 Obesity isn’t your fault. Since the 1970s, obesity rates increased in each sex, age, ethnicity, and region. We didn't simultaneously developed character flaws & moral failings. Something happened to us & *some* more than others. Let me explain. #ObesityScience
🔥 Obesity is not a behavior. Let that sink in. It’s not about eating too much, exercising too little, or lacking willpower. It’s a chronic, complex condition driven by biology, environment, and genetics—not simple “choices.” Let me explain. 1/10

I’ve just finished my first @Mental_Elf live tweeting session of the day - as a Psychologist I appreciate the skill in making slides accessible -fantastic presentation Next session after the break is covered by @Macfarlanes25#CMHP24
@Macfarlanes25@SarahJPharm@Hafsah_Habib Stigma is definitely a factor IMO but also I think the “confidence” issue needs exploring - I think if you dig beneath the surface it’s going to be more complex and nuanced.
@SarahJPharm@Macfarlanes25@Hafsah_Habib There is no justifiable explanation Issues such as confidence, skills &knowledge r frequently raised w me as reasons 4 not discussing side effects alongside fear that it will lead to non-adherence -I feel this approach would not be tolerated in other areas of healthcare #CMHP24
@Macfarlanes25@SarahJPharm@Hafsah_Habib Absolutely and this is the message that comes across strongly in our current research - clinicians are concerned that informing about side effects leads to non adherence - yet helping them to understand and cope with side effects can increase adherence
