Empathy is a heavy burden to bear when we live in systems that intentionally cause so much stress and trauma.
It’s so important that we hold onto this empathy because if we lose our empathy we lose our community.
Mother’s Day is one of the few times of the year where the labor both visible and invisible of birthing people is recognized. If we don’t prioritize the role of community in raising children we will continue to isolate birthing people and cause significant stress to them.
Kelvin Sampson with an impassioned call for University of Houston pride at crowded Coaches' Caravan event in Sugar Land: "I don't know about this commuter school bullshit... We're the University of Houston. We're the University of Houston. Don't you take a backseat to nobody.
"Don't talk to me about U of T. Or Texas A&M. We just played Texas A&M, right. How'd that go?
". . . We have respect for everybody in this state. We have respect for everybody in this conference. But we don't take a backseat to nobody. And neither should you.
"Quit acting like these teams are up here. No, they're not. You're up here. Start acting like it. Start supporting this program."
The mental health impact of violent systems like ICE on our communities will be felt for a long time. The trauma of the targeted communities and the vicarious trauma in general will be devastating. The hate being brewed and supported in our country is sad to see.
As a therapist with ADHD giving compassion and empathy to others has always been easy. Now offering myself self compassion? That’s where I have to put in the work.
Let me know how yall offer yourselves self compassion! Let’s grow together.
To support people's mental health in a true actionable way we must provide basic needs for our community. That includes housing, food, education, along with reparations and decolonial approaches to mental health systems. This is how we truly support mental health.
Discussing how systems harm us is hard to grasp and that’s on purpose. We are taught the reverse from a very early age. We are taught individualization and deconstructing systems of oppression requires community. Let’s build that community.
#KidCudi has announced that he fired M.I.A. as one of the openers on his Rebel Ragers Tour after she was booed during a rant which included lines like, “I’ve been canceled for many reasons. I never thought I would be canceled for being a brown Republican voter.”
Cudi announced her departure from the tour on May 4 via Instagram, where he wrote, “TOUR UPDATE: M.I.A is no longer on this tour. I told my management to send a notice to her team before we started tour that I didn’t want anything offensive at my shows, cuz I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood. After the last couple shows, I’ve been flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants. This, to me, is very disappointing and I wont have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase. Thank you for understanding. Rager.”

If you often feel misunderstood because it feels people don't understand how terrible systems (capitalism, colonialism, and the patriarchy are for our mental health then you've found the right place!
The systems are built to isolate us. Makes us feel disconnected from each other so if harm comes it feels justified. We must grow with connection, compassion, and community to protect our mental health.
The thing I get the most hate for in my videos is when I advocate for gender affirming care. All I can say to that is
1. Protect trans kids
2. Trans rights are human rights
3. Trans people always have and always will exist
Orlando went 45 minutes between made baskets, going scoreless from 8:46 PM ET to 9:31 PM ET 😳
The Magic's 23 straight misses were the most by any playoff team this century.
