1. Happening now, Iowa is hearing HSB649, a bill that has been dubbed the "Pink Triangle" bill that would force transgender people getting drivers license changes to have markers identifying they are trans.

It also would end all legal recognition.

Horrifying new bill out of West Virginia, SB194, would ban gender affirming care for trans ADULTS up to 21, and would mandate that all mental healthcare providers try to "cure" being trans.

It bans mental health providers from "continuing the delusion" of being transgender.

48 people testified at the hearing- just one was in support of the bill. The subcommittee ultimately passed the bill, sending it to the full committee. This was clearly preordained as the full committee mtg had already been scheduled for tomorrow.

Major breaking news. AG Ken Paxton of Texas has demanded medical records of all Texas trans youth getting care in Seattle, threatening arrest.

This is a gross violation of the dormant commerce clause and will be used to stop hospitals from offering care to those fleeing Texas.

1. A new bill in South Carolina would mandate that schools say "it is false" to use a transgender person's pronouns.

The bill's sponsor, responding to critics online, told one pediatrician to "repent" and hope that "The lord shows you mercy"

@ButNotTheCity Dr. is an earned credential. Professor is a role and a rank. Dr. is the norm at my university if you have an earned doctorate. Instructors would often be called Professor (based on role). Rarely does someone’s rank come into play here.
