Piperacillin/tazobactam for surgical prophylaxis during pancreatoduodenectomy: meta-analysis
➡️https://t.co/3La43SYJaq
Piperacillin/tazobactam as antimicrobial prophylaxis significantly lowers the risk of postoperative surgical-site infections, major surgical complications (complications classified as Clavien–Dindo grade greater than or equal to III), clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistulas (grades B and C), and mortality, hence supporting the implementation of piperacillin/tazobactam for surgical prophylaxis in current practice.

Congrats to my co-authors for another work well done. Our study suggests that although palliative care can provide a survival benefit for patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer, the current rate of palliative care utilization stands at a mere 24.3%.
Our study found that both minimally invasive and converted to open surgeries were associated with better long-term survival rates, compared to traditional open surgery. The study found that conversion from minimally invasive to open surgery did not negatively affect outcomes
