We're proud to be a founding member of @join_chic, which has driven incredible progress in making #proCHWs the norm.
A new case study in @SSIReview w/@SkollFoundation shares how our coalition is making this work possible, with CHWs leading the way: https://t.co/ybCNrYqNnQ
Yesterday, Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts.
Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressional mandated. They've saved millions of lives. 🧵

"Our goal is to see 95 countries recognize and pay CHWs. We're just over a third of the way there. We're on track to hit that tipping point."

If ‘patriotism’ is the answer, why don’t the Permanent Secretary and other top health officials work for free and redirect their hefty salaries to frontline health workers? A PS’s salary could pay 10+ community health workers. Funny how ‘patriotism’ always demands sacrifice from the poor. Injustice!
@DianaAtwine@MinofHealthUG
Uganda asked health workers paid by American funds to work for free as volunteers "in the spirit of patriotism" after the US froze foreign aid, cutting off support to staff supported by USAID & CDC
@SydneyHedderich @charliekirk11@cafreeland Sydney, the Canadian International Development Agency was folded into Canada’s equivalent of the state department more than a decade ago.
@charliekirk11 “Anybody who tells you we can slash foreign aid, & that will bring the US to balance is lying to you - [it’s] <1% of budget” - Rubio, 2019
Wrote a letter saying it’s necessary to increase USAID’s budget to counter CCP influence -Rubio, 2022
He was right.
@charliekirk11 Lol not true at all. He liked USAID a lot when he was in Congress:
“We don’t have to give foreign aid, we do so bc it furthers our national interest” - Rubio, 2013
“[Hard to] recruit someone to anti-American terrorism if the US is the reason they’re alive” - Rubio, 2017
Rubio claims that @USAID lifesaving assistance for health and humanitarian needs will continue. But his team just communicated that the entire agency will be imminently reduced from 14,000 to 294 people. Just 12 in Africa.
"This isn't charity; it's smart economics"
Proud to argue for *more* foreign aid in @Forbes
Everything spent is far too little, & it's dangerously easy to forget
Also, without a doubt, #foreignaid makes America, safer, stronger, & more prosperous👇

An insightful interaction with @DrMBallard, CEO of @join_chic and Assistant Professor at @IcahnMountSinai.
We discussed ways to strengthen gender-responsive healthcare systems and emphasised the importance of empowering women as decision-makers and leaders in the health sector.
