U.S. POINTER proved the power of lifestyle changes to protect brain health. Now, our new (re)think your brain movement translates that rigorous research into real‑world action. Join us at at https://t.co/HpFvQtReIt.
The @alzassociation is launching a bold new effort to improve brain health: (re)think your brain. Our science shows everyday habits — how you move, eat, and challenge your mind — can protect memory and support long‑term brain health. Start today: https://t.co/ktkwg8T9D3
This reflects an important model of innovation — finding new ways existing drugs can help people living with Alzheimer's disease — and underscores the power of science to make an impact on people and families. Learn more below about this new option for managing agitation.
Today, the FDA approved the first non-antipsychotic treatment for Alzheimer’s disease agitation — an important step forward for a symptom that is among the most challenging to manage in care. Read our statement >> https://t.co/ykitkmpuN4
Proud to announce new Part the Cloud investments: $11 million in 11 studies developing potential new treatments for Alzheimer’s and other diseases that cause dementia. This brings our total PTC investment to $90m+.

Evidence keeps growing that lifestyle impacts not just brain health, but overall health, too. The @alzassociation is proud to be part of the team leading this important work. We look forward to digging deeper into the data to learn even more about the studies’ findings!
U.S. POINTER Update: Three @NIHAging-funded ancillary studies report structured healthy lifestyle program previously shown to improve cognition may also improve sleep apnea, blood pressure regulation and cognitive resilience. Read the full release> https://t.co/Ad9xKYw2Ck

Research update 🔬: The evoke and evoke+ clinical trials testing an oral semaglutide pill (GLP-1 drug) to treat early Alzheimer’s did not demonstrate a statistically significant reduction in disease progression.
While we are disappointed in the results, these studies provide valuable insights that will guide future research into new, non-amyloid treatment approaches.

It can be overwhelming to take care of a loved one with Alzheimer's or other dementia, but too much stress can be harmful. It’s important to take care of yourself. 💜 Get our tips at https://t.co/GullnRsSsr. #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth
ISTAART is monitoring the potential impact of the government shutdown on researchers & the dementia care community where funds & staffing capacity are critical.
Thanks to @alzassociation advocacy, NIH requested $187M increase in FY27. Bipartisan momentum in Congress is strong!
Proud to share the Alzheimer’s Association invested $112.2M in research activities over the last year — our largest single-year commitment. From gene therapy to #BrainHealth to risk reduction to AI, we’re funding bold boundary-pushing ideas. https://t.co/fZbvhSMW15

Inspiring plenary by Juan Fortea at #AAIC2025 on #Alzheimer’s in Down syndrome. He highlighted the partnership with @GBHI_Fellows to reach those with the least access. That’s the spirit — teamwork to reduce brain health inequities across the globe! 🌍🧠
Sleep is one of the earliest systems to go awry in neurodegenerative diseases—yet remains vastly under-recognized and under-studied. Excited for Sharon Naismith's #AAIC2025 plenary: a wake-up call to the field on why sleep matters🧠💤 #sleepresearch#Dementia@SleepPIA@ISTAART
🏆 Bruce Lamb, Ph.D., is the 2025 recipient of the Zaven Khachaturian Award.
This award recognizes an individual whose compelling vision, selfless dedication and extraordinary achievement has significantly advanced the field of Alzheimer’s science.
Dr. Lamb is a basic and translational scientist with a focus on animal models of Alzheimer’s disease and preclinical therapeutic testing, including his leadership roles on the National Institute of Aging (NIA)-funded MODEL-AD Center and the TREAT-AD Center.

news from #AAIC25 marks a moment so many of us in the Alzheimer’s and dementia scientific community have long hoped for. We can now say with confidence that lifestyle interventions can protect brain health in diverse communities in the U.S.
📣 Today is a turning point in what we know about brain health.
The results from the U.S. POINTER trial provide the rigorous data needed to say with confidence that healthy behaviors can meaningfully protect brain health across diverse populations in the U.S.
The findings, shared for the first time today at #AAIC25, tested lifestyle programs that simultaneously targeted risk factors. The programs focused on:
✅👟Aerobic exercise
✅🧠Cognitive engagement
✅🥗Nutrition
✅🫀Health Monitoring
U.S. POINTER is the largest research commitment the Association has made in its history. The landmark results are testament to our commitment to our mission. Thank you to the study participants, our community, our donors, and the staff who made these findings possible.
