There’s a botanically awesome and rare thing happening at Cal Poly. Our first ever Amorphophallus titanum bloomed yesterday. Smells like rotting cabbage and putrid flesh! We cut into the bottom bloom to expose the tiny flowers for pollination! Watch at https://t.co/1t0DpR7nIh
I recently got to see the world champion red shanks (Adenostoma sparsifolium) near Warner Springs in San Diego County, California. It’s a chaparral shrub, that occasionally grows to tree size, with shedding bark that exposes a beautifully smooth red trunk.@AmericanForests
