Donald Nau,principal of Washington HS from 1966-81,died recently at the age of 95.When I succeeded him as principal in 1981,I was the beneficiary of his efforts to make Wash the wonderful school that it was.Warriors everywhere should take a moment to appreciate Mr. Nau’s legacy!

After playing for CWR in 2014 HS State Championship game & after 6 seasons(gray & red shirt yrs) with ISU Cyclones including best season in school history, Landen Akers has signed as undrafted free agent with L. A. Rams...How cool is that! I like his chances to make the roster!

What a pleasure to see Chris Cruise in the late 80s as an AMAZING CWR student/athlete(STATE CHAMP), then hire him to teach math/coach swimming, and watch his OUTSTANDING 23 yr coaching career including a STATE TITLE! His contributions to WHS have been enormous! Congrats, Chris!

The CWR debate team of Jessica Cline and Elizabeth Kolln, coached by Warren Sprouse, captured the 2021 STATE DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP! Congratulations to all on this AWESOME achievement! So glad then proud tradition of Wash debate continues!

Longtime CWR librarian Vicki Solursh passed away recently. Vicki was the consummate professional. I especially remember her fierce advocacy for underrepresented groups, particularly LGTBQ students. She was a very special woman who contributed enormously to Washington’s success!

So Warriors MBB beat IC West in 2011 & not again until last Tuesday nite. Congrats to Coach Decker & team! In 2011, I was @ ICW at CWR/ICW women’s game & learned on my way home of Wes Washpun’s 3 at buzzer to win men’s game @ Wash. GREAT MEMORIES!

Two retired Washington HS teachers died recently-Angela Svoboda (Business Ed.) & John Schmidt(Chemistry).In a Dec. tweet, I wrote of 3 other ret. WHS teachers who had died-RuthAnn Kelleher, Duane Popenhagen, & Dorothy Wilson. All 5 were dedicated Warriors;their lives mattered!
