The Worst Record Covers in the World is at Chester’s Grosvenor Museum (Grosvenor Street, Chester).until 17 January 2027.
The show draws from collector Steve Goldman’s set of around 700 unintentionally funny vinyl sleeves. A computer programmer from Huddersfield, he started three decades ago after spotting the 1979 album Roadstar by Peter Rabbitt for 10p in a bargain bin. Its cover features the band’s faces awkwardly pasted onto rabbits pulled from a magician’s hat. He only collects designs where someone clearly tried something ambitious that went spectacularly wrong, and he keeps the collection family-friendly, excluding anything gory, violent, sexist, homophobic or racist.
You can view a selection of the most popular examples, vote for your three favourites, listen to tracks from the albums, and buy the 2027 calendar or the book The Art of the Bizarre Vinyl Sleeve. Opening hours are Tuesday–Saturday 10.30am–5pm and Sunday 1–4pm (closed Mondays, except Bank Holidays).

The Norton Arms is a Grade II listed pub on Main Street in Halton Village, Runcorn (Halton, Cheshire), built in 1758.
It stands in the shadow of Halton Castle, the medieval seat of the Barons of Halton. The name reflects nearby Norton Priory (an Augustinian house founded c.1115 by the 2nd Baron of Halton, moved to Norton in 1134, raised to abbey status in 1391, and dissolved in 1536). The building features rough-cast brickwork, a slate roof, stone plinth and quoins, a moulded doorcase, and an entrance via old stone steps; the 1758 date appears above the door. It was listed Grade II in 1970.
Operating as an inn from the 19th century, it served canal, quarry, and later industrial workers and has long been a village community hub. It retains a rare bowling green, beer garden, and function room, and hosts events, quizzes, and live music. Landlady Claire Dimelow has run it since around 2004. It has appeared in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for over a decade and won multiple local Pub of the Year awards for its real ales and atmosphere.
