Last 4 are the most critical. A lifetime of leading has shown me more and more again what team members need and what they are looking for. Lastly, they are team members and not employees. If you treat someone like an employee they will act like it.
Special thanks to the Firefighters from Fort Belvoir FD, Loudon County FD, & Alexandria FD who attended my session yesterday titled, “21st Century Fire Service Leadership.” The honest dialogue about leadership, professional development and DEI was greatly appreciated. #LeadAlways
Headed to Fort Belvoir in Virginia to facilitate a leadership discussion to their fire department. Always grateful for the opportunities to engage firefighters in meaningful discussion around the world. #LeadAlways
It was a great event & time had at the Univ. of Florida 25th Anniversary of the Fire Emergency Services degree programs. I was ecstatic to meet some of my former students in person as well as meet arguably one of the best FEMA Administrators in our nation’s history, Craig Fugate.
I’m honored to be enroute to Gainesville, FL for the fire & emergency services program 25th anniversary summit which will be held tomorrow. As a speaker & panelist, it is amazing to reflect on where the undergraduate & graduate program was 12 years ago when I joined faculty.
I am truly honored and humbled to be notified by HBIU that I am being recognized as a 2024 Lifetime Achievement & Black Excellence Award recipient. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that I have been given to serve others and make a difference.
