This paper was a labour of love for our team, and we are very excited to receive an Editors Choice from SLEEP!
We found a high persistence rate of insomnia symptoms (54%) over the first 12 months of the pandemic. We also found that sleep reactivity and sleep effort were major perpetuating factors of insomnia that need to be addressed.
A huge thanks to our team, Flora Le, Sean Drummond, Sukhjit Bains, @PVarma_sleep@MoiraJunge and @DrSleepPsych, for making this study possible!
The COVID-19 pandemic triggered sleep issues for many. Unfortunately, our new paper reveals that insomnia was more likely to persist than remit over 12 months.
Interventions that address sleep reactivity and sleep effort are critical for reducing insomnia persistence rates. @DrSleepPsych

First publication from one of the most rewarding projects I've had the pleasure of leading - thanks to my dream team and our community advisors for guiding us through the co-design of this sleep intervention for carers. Stay tuned for the feasibility trial paper!
