Two questions to help students make connections between their math strategy and another students' are:
"What stuck out to you from their strategies?"
"How did their approach relate to what you did when you were solving the task?"
Place value disks (chips) were new to me with the B.E.S.T Mathematics. This week I realized how much less space they take up on a students' desks and how many more one-thousands we have than we usually get with base ten blocks. Thanks to @K5MathOCPS for these great tools!
Our Elementary Math Department is getting ready for the Math Minds Meet World Tour! This wonderful group of people will be visiting nearly 80 schools over the next few days to answer questions and provide support to teachers and schools in kicking off a year of math success!
Our first Coaches’ Forum for the 23-24 school year has begun! Wow! Look at all of these instructional coaches and teacher leaders gaining a wealth of knowledge so that math instruction is the best it’s ever been at their schools! GO OCPS! @CDLocps @DrRahim_Jones @DaveGorham_OCPS
One of our personal favorite parts of our presentation: @swhalen_ocps did an excellent job tying in the MTRs to the different Math Olympics activities and she kept the audience engaged. “ITS MTR TIME!!”
We are ready for Day 2 of FCTM annual conference! Today we will be presenting our implementation of Math Olympics. #FCTM2023 @CDLocps @DrRahim_Jones @DaveGorham_OCPS @lwilcox_ocps @DrStrange_OCPS
Feedback in the classroom sounds like: “Can you solve this another way?”
*Please refer to the FL DOE B1G-M document for further information regarding student and teacher actions that align with each MTR.
