#WATCH | Over Supreme Court on demolition of 44 structures in Meerut's Central market, Advocate Suraj Kumar says, " The Center for Law and Good Governance has filed a petition through its authorized representative Sanjeev Mittal that there should be a uniform policy regarding demolition, demolition of unauthorised construction, regularisation of unauthorised colonies. On the one hand, various state governments keep on assuring that you keep on living, keep on paying taxes, and we will regularize you. On the other hand, after 30 years of living, all of a sudden, the government orders demolition. Supreme Court directed that our prayer will be considered by all the state governments and Union territories, and asked the Union of India to develop a uniform policy for rehabilitation before demolition. I have written an email to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh stating that, at least in his state, where all this demolition is taking place, for example, in Meerut Central Market, this policy should be evolved with immediate effect."
