Some people mistakenly use "fair" when they mean "equal", and "equal" when they mean "fair". Other people, based on the last few days, willfully and knowingly misuse these words with cynical intent. The former is understandable, the latter is unethical.
By luck of birth, I didn't have #StudentDebt until my doctorate. I'm so happy for the millions of people who'll have the crushing weight of this debt lifted from their shoulders, or at least see a light ahead in a much shorter tunnel. A game changer for millions who need it most.
@tracyrenee70 Many people are so used to "assessment OF learning", they assume it's good; "assessment FOR learning" is actually way more valuable. Opportunities for feedback are critical to #learning, but too often lacking in #education#organizations/#systems.
@Popehat@alex_s_author Have you ever read any of @BarristerSecret's books? They're based on the UK legal system, but might be interesting to you as they get into some of the misunderstandings, myths, politics, and practical consequences of realities in the UK system.
@biophyskrys@alixabeth If it makes you feel better, I am also a Colgate University graduate (1999) and we had a different soon-to-be-disgraced gem: Bill Cosby.
Some of the most interesting programs I worked on when I was @UCTGSB incorporated/were based on @dschoolUCT's people and concepts. Getting some training (as I was fortunate enough to get for free!) on #DesignThinking is something I still recommend to people on a regular basis.
“Design-led thinkers can apply the tools and techniques needed to help solve ambiguous or complex challenges while coping with a high degree of uncertainty ," writes Richard Perez, founding director of the d-school Afrika on @mailandguardian: https://t.co/lFEW7NPIGp.
@gchelwa@miami_institute Congratulations, Grieve! One more feather in your cap! And congratulations to the Miami Institute for making the smart choice of tapping into Grieve's brilliance!
@ProfConnolly@UlsterUni Congratulations, Paul! Folks at Ulster are getting a brilliant colleague who, in my experience, was always a thoughtful, fair, and engaged #leader.
@DKThomp@TheAtlantic I'll see your #conspiracy and raise you a #war:
"If an unfriendly power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war." -Nation at Risk (1983)
@GasantAbarder Hi! We don't know each other, but your tweet popped up in my feed....I have designed and taught on a bunch of Masters programs (and earned a few myself!); if I can help with advice, let me know. Lifelong learning is THE goal. Best of luck with it!
@richardcalland@Athol_Williams And, if I may be so bold as to add:
1) what they're willing to change to make sure they don't get it so wrong again and
2) what they can do STARTING NOW to redress their previous failures.
Whistleblowers like Athol are STILL suffering harm for stepping up where others dared not.
@UCTGSB Hey, where were all these suits and ties when I was working there?!
This is a great tradition. It was always a highlight of the year to get a chance for everyone to hang out, fully relaxed, in the courtyard after some cathartic bell ringing. Congrats to all of the students!
