The picture above is of @MeningitisNow staff, volunteers and Ambassadors who gathered at the #Stroud Subscription Rooms yesterday evening. A fitting end to an important day.
Yesterday was #WorldMeningitisDay. This always conjures mixed emotions - including the poignancy of remembrance and the optimism that comes from thinking of a better future.
@guardian@devisridhar is absolutely right in this article, but don't overlook the role of charities like @MeningitisNow in showing why vaccines matter...
Important article by @devisridhar in today's @guardian about the declining uptake of #vaccines in the UK. And this despite the noise and public attention given to vaccines as a result of #covid19.

Thank you to @SkyNews for reporting on 9 yr-old Cormac Hanley running 75km for @MeningitisNow this #Christmas. He’s an exceptional young man who had #meningitis aged just 2 days old.
You can still support his #fundraising here: https://t.co/BVRPmKf2ck
Thank you Cormac!
Every so often as a #charity#CEO, you get to do something special. Yesterday I joined 9-year old Cormac for a run on #Brighton beach to raise money for @MeningitisNow. Cormac had #meningitis aged 2 days old and is now running 3km a day during Advent: https://t.co/m3tK8Q2z4M
I was parched and asked in Toppings, Leith Walk, if they had a coffee bar. No, but they served complimentary coffees. A glass of water too? So in a couple of minutes I was served this. Only then I said I was a writer. They produced ten of my books to sign. Now that’s a bookshop.
Professor Richard Moxon FRS receives the Buchanan Medal for helping pioneer molecular microbiology; discovering contingency loci in bacteria that facilitate rapid evolution under selection & making contributions to the development of meningitis vaccines. https://t.co/ScIM0GEvDF
Spent the morning in the radio studio talking #meningitis#student awareness and lifesaving #vaccines with @edcook99 and Michelle Bresnahan. A good day’s work.
