@Sojourned_@DanielPriestley@garyseconomics I would rather have billions spent on building homes and hospitals etc than on ward for oil, power and profit. So Ok agree about waste in that sense
@Sojourned_@DanielPriestley@garyseconomics Do you want to live in a country that has good schools, hospitals and roads etc? If so, where should the money come from to find those things?
@Sojourned_@DanielPriestley@garyseconomics They may move (how patriotic!) but they can't take their properties with them. And life can't get much worse for those at the bottom. Let's try the wealth tax and see...

My parents both left school in the late 70s and managed to buy their council house despite leaving home with no qualifications...
@CharlieMunger00@samuel_leeds@DanNeidle I think it was Adam Smith, in The Theory of Moral Sentiment, who stated the the greatest incentive is to be liked by others, rather than hoarding more wealth than you could spend in multiple life lifetimes?
@OliverKamm@ShipleyWrites Didn't you once write about a book about how to use the English language correctly that was torn apart by experts on the subject?
