So many older women each week in my office. They know their significant other relationships are "off" and that their church counseling recommendations and church hierarchies are !?!?. We loved @BrazosPress and @BethAllisonBarr The Making of Biblical Womanhood!
🎉 It’s Clergy Appreciation Month! Join us in celebrating the incredible Baptist women ministers leading with courage, grace, and faith. 🌟
🏷️Tag a woman minister you appreciate and share how they’ve impacted your life! ❤️

Narcissists are naturally contrarian, so when arguments occur, they instinctively become competitive. Dr. C explains how they use tried and true tactics that will potentially bring out the worst in you.

Narcissists come from the generation(s) before them. Generations of grown men w/o skills of empathy, checking in on others, knowing how they impact others, & adjusting to get along well. Statistically women are leaving church in droves & we all wonder why....
You might be surprised how much you actually like therapy. Your own private and safe space all about you. It's so life-changing to be seen, heard, understood - known.
Ladies, it's fine to look for a man that's physically strong, has a strong sense of direction, ability to lead. AND he needs ability to let others speak into him (even his tiniest child) & be able to adjust his course. Self-insight. Confident, not arrogant. There's a difference.
Living in a toxic relationship can make you lose your voice and become very small. It's a therapist's job to sort out what you're trying to say. Don't worry if it doesn't make sense to you, it does to us & we'll figure it out. Keep trying to express yourself, it will get easier!
If you're in a relationship where someone continually throws out Fear, Obligation, or Guilt (FOG) to control you, they have unhealthy coping skills and it will wear you out. Find a good therapist so you can work out why their tactics work on you and how to stop it. You can do it!
Hey, Ladies, if you've left church completely or are struggling with it, I'd like to hear why. Email me at [email protected] or through the website at https://t.co/ieZsFuzsUV
Always a new day to sort things out. Congruency is good. Knowing what you feel, when you feel it, and why. What you're saying, when you're saying it, and why. Etc. This gets easier when you work through trauma.
@bethallisonbarr @BrazosPress Life-changing book! Nearly spit out my drink when she mentioned the Dorothy Patterson classes. 🤣Recalled sneaking into a Baylor friend's house, adding a "diploma" to her wall. PhD in Homemaking to "cook and clean with all her might." Hysterical. I do like to clean...
Some people attract controlling people. This can feel normal if you've been conditioned to over-give or over-function. It's great to stop and address it. You don't have to live this way.
Our seasons of suffering are not for nothing.
They will grow us... shape us... soften us.
They will allow us to experience God’s comfort and compassion. And we will find life-giving purpose and meaning when we allow God to take our painful experiences and comfort others.
