@EdwardDaniels The level of disorganization and lack of leadership at the site precluded me from understanding who the site head was. Duly noted on how to reach an official on the weekend. I’m still awaiting several email responses from my rep from 2020. So you’ll forgive my mistrust of email.
@MayorBowser: This gerontologist wants to know why #CovidVaccine sites were moved to sites w/o room to distance patients while not adjusting scheduling. At Washington Seniors Wellness Center, there’s no choice but w/i 1-3 feet, making this high risk in the name of prevention.
“I hope we don’t get exposed!” - friend says who is waiting in long line of nearly 100 people waiting for vaccines INSIDE Senior Center on Alabama Ave SE. Out of the snow but no social distancing in sight. @_DCHealth@DrLNesbitt@MayorBowser@wusa9@HillcrestWard7
WV officials started planning for the COVID-19 vaccine distribution in March 2020.
“It’s what you don’t see at this West Virginia convention center that is remarkable. No long lines. No frustrated citizens. No signs saying come back when shots are available.” @MarthaRaddatz

@deliangoncalves@_DCHealth@DrLNesbitt@MayorBowser@wusa9@HillcrestWard7 I had this same experience and was appalled. No one seemed to be able to answer my questions about the workflow or protocols. When I asked if the guards charged with managing the waiting area had been trained on social distancing, decontamination, and hand hygiene, blank stare.
We have an entire city of school gymnasiums with wide open spaces. And, unless I’m mistaken, we have them accessible in all neighborhoods. Why aren’t we using those?!?
It’s also clear that no one outside “the room where it happens” was educated on maintaining a low risk waiting environment. Hand hygiene has been non-existent, there are no wipes for patient phones when they are handled by the non-clinical staff. This is beyond the pale.
The largest groups of approved #CovidVaccine candidates are healthcare workers and adults over 65. If ever there were two groups to prioritize getting the protocols right, it’s these groups. Fixing it now would fix it for everyone.
ALERT: Lookout for white male, 320lbs, bald/blonde hair, suspected of attempting to destroy American democracy. May be accompanied by rat-faced companion in the vicinity of Pennsylvania Ave.
