@drglennsullivan I had a prof tell me that going the clinical route was a "terrible waste of a graduate level education." I made more than her in 4 months of PP. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@DrGipps Iโve long said that psychologists must be the arbiters of reality. If we donโt, then what the hell are we doing? Itโs why Iโm such a fan and practitioner of REBT.
@BeReasonable01 It saddens me that thereโs no curiosity and only certainty. So much would be better understood if they didnโt just FEEL like their opinions were factually wrong but morally correct. That dynamic makes it difficult.
Longhorn fans, in advance of the season opener against the Bobcats, we wanted to point out one thing about Texas State. Their President, @kdamp is one of the best men in higher education today. If you have ever had the chance to talk to him and get to know him and his story, you know why he is special. The Longhorns will likely win on the field on Saturday, but Texas State and their students win every day because of people like Kelly. Thanks for all you do KD!
It's amazing: @ATT and @googlefiber are RIGHT OUTSIDE MY BUILDING, and yet no one can figure out how to get me service. Why won't you take my money??? @ATT even has a service box on the side wall of my office and they can't seem to figure out how to get it to me. Baffling.
@DoctorPerin This is my main operating mode. Happy to consult, especially in translating to hardy midwesterners. I lived in Iowa, and got that style down. ๐
@chris_komatsu@politicalmath@DrJBhattacharya Credentialism much? Your position suggests that heโs not trained in medicine, even as a researcher. That he doesnโt understand physiology because he didnโt do practice. Iโm sorry, but this isnโt in good faith either.
An email hit my inbox today about Eli Lilly's acquision of AtaiBeckley, a biotech company who is developing an intranasal formulation of 5-MeO-DMT. This made my jaw hit the floor. As someone who is well versed in psychedelics and mediated therapies, this one has me scratching my head. It is my opinion that there are better tolerated medications which already exist that have significant benefits to overcoming treatment-resistant depression.
It's my opinion that breaking the foundation of people's sense of self shouldn't be a goal of therapeutic intervention. DMT, which is an extraordinarily powerful hallucinogen, isn't for the feint of heart. This isn't doing shrooms with your college roommate. This is a complete derealization and depersonalization experience that has significant lingering effects and significant implications.
While I am all for alternative approaches to helping those with TRD, I am afraid of where this may lead. I've already been vocal about my concerns with the ibogaine trials, but no one seems to care what I think, even as a published author in the psychedelic space. I am happy to be proven wrong, but I am extremely skeptical about these approaches. I know I would never gain access to their trial data, but man, I'd love a peek.
I have signed up as a commenter for the FDAs meeting to be held on September 14th. Perhaps they will hear what I have to say regarding my thoughts on it.
Hard to believe that at midnight Tuesday (CDT), @txst will officially become the first new member of the @pac12! A year ago, the negotiations leading up to the announcement were among the most stressful of my career - the stakes were so high! So glad the wait is almost over!๐พโญ๏ธ
@suekhim Iโve seen this trend in my practice. This has been happening a while. Kids who are head of the class are slightly above average while a great deal are practically illiterate. Across the grade levels. Social promotions galore. Itโs wild.
Are you a forensic expert or expert witness who testifies often? I have a product I'd love for you to experience. It's called https://t.co/cZf30DhxQn and I think you'll be pleased with what it can do.
