Johnston County passes policy against books on gender identity in elementary school libraries. School district is applying NC Parents’ Bill of Rights to supplementary materials in K-5 & not just K-4, including elementary school library books. #nced#ncpol https://t.co/n3PfCHeJLk
“You can use the N95 mask you bought for the pandemic to filter out the wildfire smoke engulfing the entire Northeast” is a neat little sentence that lets you know we’re in the fun part of the century that future historians are going to talk about a lot.
How many parents? Just curious what the sample size was, here.
And of course, Covid ruined everything, but if we had real data from the 19-20 school year, the story would be wildly different here.
Carroll Middle School parents & teachers are in support of ending the use of competency-based grading. Parents said they couldn't understand what a Level 1-4 system meant for their kids. Now they'll get more traditional grades on report cards. #wcpss
Black students are no more likely to misbehave than students from any other race…this disparity is almost exclusively the result of how we as adults choose to respond. We need to be clear about that.
The thing is that we wouldn’t be having this pepper spray conversation if that teacher had only been more engaging.

Also, posted his standard. A clearly posted standard will keep students off their phones.
Interested to see that a new meta-analysis finds what I’ve long said about school tracking: it exacerbates inequality without contributing to overall productivity. https://t.co/hEiNOReDeo
Students are required to bring their computer every day to do work.
Student breaks his computer on purpose, and refuses to pay for a replacement.
Teachers are now asked to provide him with a paper copy of all lessons and grade his assignments manually.
Dr. Seuss wrote many of our beloved childhood favorites like the Lorax, the Grinch, and the Cat in the Hat.
He also profited off horrible racist slurs & stereotypes. Knowing this and still choosing to promote his work in 2023 is an unambiguous statement of intent.
@MoniseLSeward Also, I wasn’t paid for having a Ph.D. I could have paid *more* to become nationally board certified, but tell me how that’s more valuable than 4 years of work and a dissertation. 👀
@MoniseLSeward They took away Masters pay in NC. It’s very intentional to keep teachers in their place. If they pay us for higher degrees, they’re paying us to learn more. And the more we know… the less we are willing to comply with problematic policies. It’s gross.
