@paedsdr I was told that the prospective GMC approval to move CCT date only allowed me to accredit the time against competencies at my current training level. Because I did my PhD as ST3-4 I couldn't count the experience against subspecialty training so there wasn't much point.

Clinical academia is already a tough road... Making it a lottery right at the start is only going to disincentive trainees and compound the ongoing challenge of recruitment and retention of clinical academics.

Another issue, not discussed, is the failure to recognise all the components of the job equally, clinical/research/teaching. The interests of Universities and the NHS are not the same and clinical academics suffer as a result. @StephenORahilly
