My personal thought is that Farage was getting a lot of negative publicity around the chaos and also the naked Islamophobia within the party. He's run a cost/benefit analysis and brought him back.

All it does, really, is prove how wholly unserious and unsuited they are for politics.

All aboard the Reform jalopy, one wheel has fallen off and the other three are very wobbly. No one knows where they're headed, but it's going to be very fun to watch.

I don't have much to add to the discourse surrounding Starmer's Visit to Washington yesterday.

We're so unused to serious, credible politicians in the UK that his performance looks as though he was wearing a cape and his pants on top of his suit.

In reality … he did his job. He did it well, and took the heat out of any potential gotcha moments; when JD Vance tried to corner him on free speech, he countered and, ultimately, made him look a bit silly.

I haven't seen any retraction tweets from Trump this morning, so that's the litmus test. Starmer has passed his vetting.

The letter from the King was a shrewd move. Whilst, to some it seemed sycophantic and, well cringe, in actual fact, it was pure theatre. Designed to pander to the president's need for powerful attention: home run.

When you are a serious political player, you surround yourself with seriously smart people, and you listen to them. Badenoch needs to take a leaf from that pamphlet before her next podcast appearance.

The planning was obvious. Every question or statement answered with a quiet sense of understated authority. Starmer took his time and never appeared rattled.

You can love him or loathe him, but you must start to respect him now as a proper Prime Minister - of the type we've lacked for some time.

Today, there will be the usual suspects talking down his body language or using shortened clips to make him seem weak - you know who they are. The GB News cabal, Talk TV syndicate, the Mike Grahams of this parish. But even they know, really, that their words are hollow this morning.

It feels slightly discombobulating to realise that, at last, the grown-ups seem to be back in charge.

Syrians have the right to celebrate the fall of the House of Assad without being lectured by non-Syrians about the reality of their future.

Maybe some of you need a reminder, but Assad wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill dictator. Not only did he run a police state of a frightening degree, but he also burned down his country to stay in power, destroying entire cities and killing hundreds of thousands of Syrians to keep his regime in place.

Let people who have had family members murdered, tortured, and imprisoned by the state have a moment of relief and celebration.

It doesn’t mean they’re naive about Syria’s future.

When I talk about scams, I oft get replies like "the TV licence is a scam too" or "not putting up income tax thresholds is a scam" & more. I get this is venting, but it risks inuring people to the danger of actual scams.

Scams and fraud make up 40% of UK crime Its under-policed, under-resourced, under-reported and under-regulated. We need that to change. Scams don't just destroy peoples finances, they have huge impacts on mental health and self-esteem.

Scams are primarily from dangerous organised criminal gangs, extra-territorially using sophisticated psychological techniques to lie, manipulate people, and steal with little repercussion.

Dismissing that by equating it to legal policy decisions even those you strongly disagree with, draws attention away from the real need in our society to crack down on these criminals.

1. I don’t often tweet about my personal life, but on 1st November, my mum Jane was hit by a large vehicle as a pedestrian in St. Louis, USA. She suffered a severe brain injury & remains in a coma in hospital.
