THE STAND-DOWN

When the U.S. consulate came under attack, we were at the CIA Annex about a mile away.

We were geared up, ready to go, and prepared to move.

Then Bob looked directly at me and said “stand down you need to wait”

Let me make something crystal clear: that stand-down did not come from Washington, the Pentagon, or somebody else talking in his ear.

It came from Bob.

Weeks before September 11, the commander of the 17 Feb had already told Bob that if anything happened, they were not going to help us.

Then, on the night of the attack, while we were getting ready to go, Bob got that same commander on the phone.

And again, the answer was the same: they were not going to help.

But understand this part too:

WE DID NOT KNOW THAT.

We had no idea what 17 Feb was telling Bob that night or what they had told him weeks earlier.

If we had known they had already told him they were not coming, we would have punched out immediately.

We were standing there ready to move, believing Bob was still trying to coordinate some kind of local response and a joint link-up.

Meanwhile, he already knew 17 Feb was not coming.

And he was still telling us to stand down.

I was standing there. Bob looked directly at me and said it. Americans were under attack. We were about a mile away. We were ready to move, and Bob was telling us not to leave.

We did not wait for him to change his mind.

The final straw was Alec Henderson, the senior Diplomatic Security agent at the compound, coming over the radio:

“If you guys don’t get here now, we’re all gonna fucking die.”

That was it.

Americans were calling for help.

Hell, we started leaving before our team leader was even with us.

We left without Bob’s permission.

That is the stand-down I have been talking about all these years.

And that stand-down order is the reason Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith are not with us today.

If we had left when we were ready, the attackers wouldn’t have had free rein to set the buildings on fire.

That is a fact!

Bob gave the order.

Bob knew 17 Feb was not coming.

We did not know.

And we went anyway. We were the only hope they had of getting out alive.

🚨WOW!!!

A foster mom caring for THREE special-needs kids couldn't afford the parts to fix her van's broken AC.

So a total stranger bought the parts himself, fixed it for free, and had it running before she got there.

When she reached in and felt cold air for the first time… she broke down crying. ❤️

The strangers name is Michael Kuba.

And that story? It's just one of thousands.

About 11 years ago, Michael's own van AC died and the car shop quoted him almost $4,000.

He had 3 little kids crying in the back seat in the Arizona heat… and no way to pay it.

So he did the only thing he could do.

He bought some tools. Watched YouTube. And through pure trial and error, he taught himself to fix it.

Then he had a thought: how many other families are stuck in this exact spot?

That was the birth of The Junkie Garage, a nonprofit in Glendale, Arizona.

The rules are almost unbelievable.

No income checks.
No paperwork.
No questions about your money or your past.

You bring the parts. Y
ou donate whatever you can afford for the labor.

That's it.

"I don't ask you for your income. I don't ask you who you are, where you came from, or anything like that. I just wanna help people get their cars working right."

An AC job that runs $2,000 to $4,000 at a normal shop? His average customer pays less than $300, donations included.

...but Michael doesn't do it alone.

His son Matthew has been right there beside him, wrench in hand, since he was EIGHT years old.

He's a teenager now, and he's still there every week, fixing cars for strangers in his community.

"It's an amazing bonding experience, and it gives me an opportunity most kids don't get."

A dad teaching his boy how to fix an alternator… and how to be a man.

Michael puts it like this:

"You haven't lived until you've done something for someone that can never repay you."

He's got dreams of a bigger shop, more volunteers, more cars, more families kept on the road to work and school and church.

"If you have the ability to help people, just do it."

🚨WHAT A FREAKING HERO!!!!

A North Carolina dad who was ST*BBED IN THE NECK in a Food Lion parking lot, with his kids still in the back seat...

...HELD HIS WOUND AND THEN USED HIS CAR TO RUN DOWN THE KNIFE-WIELDING MAN who began CHARGING at his wife.

He hit the gas, SMASHED INTO THE ATTACKER, and saved her!!!!

It was Sunday night, around 8:30PM.

This dad dropped his wife at the Food Lion door and pulled into a parking spot to wait, his children right there in the vehicle with him.

Out of nowhere, a man walked up and st*bbed him in the chin and neck with a knife.

he wounded husband called his wife and told her: I've been st*bbed.

He pulled up to the front to grab her and get his family OUT of there.

But as his wife walked out of that store... the suspect started RUNNING right at her.

Court records say he was "charging toward" her with a large fixed-blade knife.

So the father turned his car and drove it straight into the attacker and knocked him to the ground.

Stopped him cold.

The suspect scrambled up and ran INTO the store.

Deputies found him hiding behind the DELI counter and recovered the knife.

A 36-year-old named Eric Burgess is now charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to k*ll, assault on a female, and more.

And that dad?

His wounds, thank God, are not life-threatening, he's going to be okay!!!

This dad refused to be a victim, even though he got st*bbed in the NECK and his very next thought was his WIFE and his children.

THAT is a husband.
THAT is a father.

THAT is what it looks like to protect your family with everything you've got.

For the next 12 days, I’m going to tell the story of Benghazi.

Not just what happened during those 13 hours on September 11 and 12, 2012.

I’m going back before that night.

Back to the warnings, back to the attacks that had already happened.

Back to what was going on in Benghazi months before 4 Americans were killed.

Some of what I’m going to share is already documented in congressional investigations and government records.

Some of it comes from people who have spent years digging into what happened afterward.

And some of it I know for one simple reason.

I was there.

I was serving on the CIA’s GRS Annex Security Team in Benghazi in 2012.

I was there while the security situation was getting worse.

I was there when the U.S. compound was attacked months before September 11.

I was there while Benghazi was becoming more dangerous and the warning signs kept piling up.

And on September 11, 2012, I was there when all of it came crashing down.

This isn’t about reopening some old political argument.

It’s about telling the story in the order it actually happened and remembering the 4 Americans who never came home because of OUR failed government and policies.
