@CloutStrife1st Why does everything have to be a souls-like or require bashing your head against a wall before beating a single fight?
Instead of making you re-play the game in NG+, they just put the optional hard stuff in-line with the main game. FF games have never been particulary hard.
@SalCreativeLabs@Genki_JPN Then this is just an easy(er) mode. What's the problem?
Even with the option, you're still fighting main story encounters, still engaging with the combat and similar content.
All it seems to do is eliminate repetative the grinding open-world RPG's tend towards. And Optional.
@CMDR_Shylph At 25% integrity, the FSD is going to malfunction pretty frequently, no? Even if they tried to jump out they may not have been able to if it malfunctioned a few times in a row.
@lofi_lover0930 Instead of requiring a replay in NG+, they just made the "hard mode" content optionaly available in the main playthrough as side-content.
So you don't have to replay huge swaths of the game just to get a challenge.
Who knows if it'll work out or not (shrug) but it's there.
@DarkLightsWrath I mean, I definitely don't blame you. They're completely different combat systems.
I bounced off the Remake/Rebirth action'y combat HARD... but I love me some good ole' ATB or actual turn-based like FF 1-3 was.
It's also a very endearing art style
@VapidLight@GooseyKaboosey In a nutshell; instead of requring a NG+ where you have to replay the entire game again for a harder experience, they just added "Hard" optional content playable in your main playthrough.
So instead of repeating huge chunks of the game, the hard challenges are integrated.
@warper2509 Is it any different than an XP / AP multiplier option in the pixel remasters? Or the option to turn off random encounters? Did those options ruin the original games?
Just think of the option as an Easy+ mode or similar optional accesibility option you don't have to use.
@BluSatire I've never enjoyed the aspect of old games that require a repetative grind just in order to be high level enough to feasibly access the main story. It's boring and repetative and not actually entertaining most of the time.
I'm all for game design or options that avoid that.
@BluSatire People always had jobs, but cRPG games were also generally a shorter back then, too.
Games like BG2 and Planescape are like, 45-60hrs.
Entire OG FF7 was about 80hrs max.
Remake is upwards of 100hrs, Rebirth is 160+
Games today take up way more time than they used to.
@MechaGoddess (shrugs) just think of it as an XP multiplier option like you see in the pixel remasters.
It's not hurting anyone to make a very long game more accesible to people who don't have time to sit through grinding and boring side content just to get through the main story.
Easy+ mode
@e_fosa08@MetaFeatsDC Baby Aragog was described as being the size of a Pekingese. Sure they grew to be a 'giant' later, but at the time they were basically the size of a camel spider.
Do you forever ban a kid from ever driving a car because they took a joyride at 13 when no harm was done?
@MetaFeatsDC Nothing about the world-lore makes sense.
Aragog was the size of a Camel Spider at the time; you could punt the thing.
Yet he was expelled from a school and the gov. ALSO banned him from ever having a wand? No Tutors, magical GED's, other schools... over an exotic pet.
@NotMikeHarlow I would have respected that it's a super stressful day, the father of the bride is likely freaking out trying to make sure everything is PERFECT for their daughter's big day.
Not wanting political statements and signage on their big day is absolutely normal, not homophobic
@LostLoreScholar There's a reason the "Critical Role Effect" became such a thing... inexperienced people were mistaking a SHOW BY VOICEACTORS AND THEATER PROS for how a actual home D&D games play.
It's never been a "Normal" D&D game. Because "normal" D&D games are boring AF to watch, usually.
@LostLoreScholar TBF, critical role has never (except maybe the very first arc or two in the early campaign) ever been a "Normal" D&D game.
They're trained actors and experienced improv'ers putting on a show. This has always been the case, and D&D has always just been the backdrop for silliness.
@SalCreativeLabs@Genki_JPN Why does a trilogy only have to target 'hardcore' audiences? What's wrong with people who have enjoyed the story of the first two, being able to enjoy the story of the third without a huge time investment for grinding?
Why NOT give an option to make it more accessible?
@Sector_6_@luisjohnsoon@dreamingkass It's a single player game; what does it matter how someone else is geared or rewarded? How does that effect YOUR gameplay experience in any way shape or form?
@Sector_6_@dreamingkass So how does that effect YOUR gameplay? The option clearly isn't there for people who want to work through every combat and grind gear and stats.
It's there for people who want to engage with the interactive story and still want a challenge without spending hours in repetition.
@dreamingkass People like to get mad for no comprehendable reason when it comes to old franchise'
It's not multiplayer. It's an OPTION you don't have to use, but it's there for folks who don't have a lot of gaming time to enjoy the game without repetatively grinding for hours.
