@seabikeblog I for one support the historic streetcar district designation. Obviously private cars will be banned from the neighborhood because they would ruin the "historic" nature of those streets. And it has great streetcar access so those vehicles are unnecessary.

@pushtheneedle One of the reasons our parks are underutilized is that most are surrounded by low density housing. All of our largest parks sit in a sea of single family homes. Increased housing density near these areas would be a good way to use our existing greenspace.

@Foone Another historical fun fact, this has happened so much in the writing that it has a name. Palimpsest. Where a work was written on a page then washed away so the page could be reused.

@Foone This is basically true. Before 1912 you couldn't copywrite a movie (in the US), so producers would send in photographs of each frame to the Library of Congress.

This oddly worked to preserve early films because the film stock of the time degraded so quickly.

Seattle dedicates twice as much space to parks (6,411 acres) & nearly 5 times as much space to roads (14,138 acres) than it does to multifamily housing (3,262 acres).

It’s not a surprise that folks end up sleeping in parks or on the side of the road when they have nowhere to go.
