So I get this because it’s inaccurate to the profession. The problem is the ins and outs of a profession just don’t make for an interesting movie.

I’m sure Whiplash would still be comically inaccurate if it were a sports movie instead

I can’t take Whiplash seriously because the premise is flawed; you don’t get good as a jazz drummer by becoming a human metronome. The whole thing has a cartoon model of musical excellence. Maybe it should’ve been a movie about sports instead
