Draw The Line is a new society at @LivUni campaigning to combat sexual violence on campus and amplifying the voices of survivors. Part of @NotOnMyCampusUK
Why now?
Sexual violence at university is unfortunately very prevelent. You are twice as likely to experience it at university than anywhere else. We aim to support and amplify the voices of survivors and campaign around fairer treatment and support for them.
At University @nuswomcam found that:
- 75% of students experience at least one unwanted sexual experience during their time at uni.
- 1 in 7 respondents had experienced attempted rape or rape at university.
Rape culture is prevalent on our campuses. Time for Unis' to act.
Please support our urgent campaign #TakeSurvivorsSeriously, which we’ve launched in response to the Uni withdrawing funding for the SU Against Sexual Violence project (despite a public promise to protect students for 3 years. Pls sign & support: https://t.co/T1KM8s70Ca 🙌
Thank you to everyone that came to our first meeting and thanks to our speakers @alexjkendrick and @chloexfield. Please get in touch if you want to be involved in the campaign 💞
Join us for our first event which will be discussing lad culture on campus and consent. We will be joined by PhD researcher @alexjkendrick, who researches lad culture in online and offline HE spaces and @chloexfield who is Vice President of the Guild of students.
Chloe and Imogen, two of your student officers, hosted a women's panel with panellists from @LiverpoolGuild society @Drawtheline_ , @rasa_merseyside and many more!
We discussed issues such as consent and imposter syndrome at University.

If you're working to prevent GBV in colleges & unis, then please have a look at this admirable approach by @durham_uni who now share disciplinary investigations and outcomes. Welcome transparency, we hope others follow & adopt similar practice 👏#EndGBV https://t.co/behxaRritQ
Catch our chair @micaelatr_ speaking on behalf of Draw the line at an online event as part of @LiverpoolGuild welcome week, centring women's empowerment and consent. Thanks to @chloexfield our Vice pres for chairing 🙂 sign up below! https://t.co/JSUOinhrKd

Another example where rape culture and classism are prevelent on University campuses. Time and time again we read about examples where this has happened. Student unions+ Unis need to take stronger action fighting a culture of sexual assault+ harrasement

Solidarity to all those marching today with the #BlackLivesMatter protest. We must remember that any revolution is not a one time event. There is a deeply entrenched racist culture rotting the core of our society. We must think about what comes next. @Blklivesmatter
