"If you want to get out of here safe and sound, no filming."
Those were the words I was met with while filming a protest in Derry’s Waterside this evening.
I was told not to film because they said the protest was peaceful. When I asked whether they wanted to get their message out there, the response was "shut your mouth".
I then approached one person who had been shouting at me and asked if I had done something wrong. I was told no, but then immediately told to "f**k off".
There was also a warning that if they were "over in my end of the woods", it would be a different story - not sure what this means.
I was told they did not want me there and that I had no right to stand in the street.
I do not know who these people were, but they were standing, watching over the protest. Their message, however, was clear: journalists are not welcome.
I will not be intimidated, threatened or deterred from carrying out my work. I stand firmly by the principle that the press must be free to report without fear, favour or intimidation.
I will continue to do my job. I will not be silenced, and I will not be intimidated out of doing the work the public has a right to see. @NUJofficial
Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson was asked by a journalist, who refused to give up the microphone, about alleged racism by Irish players during last Sunday's 3-0 win over Israel in Hungary.
The news conference was brought to a close at that point by Football Association of Ireland communications manager Kieran Crowley, who said those allegations were "completely untrue".

Police have now exited their vehicles, fully geared up. It seems like a push towards the crowd may not be far off after negotiations failed. #Portadown
Unionism is in some state if this is what they think passes for leadership in 2026. Utterly depressing and pathetic. More and more people are realising that a different future is possible. A New Ireland can’t come quickly enough!
