@BarbaraWol13369 Hello beautiful Barbara 🌺
😊 I just wanted to say hello and thank you for supporting my music. I really appreciate you being here. How’s your day going so far?
Space Junk is probably the most fun we’ve ever had making a record. It turned us back into teenagers, or kids in our bedrooms when we got our first instruments, and dreamed about doing what we’re doing tonight. We’ve had 10 years to think about this album, it’s been in the bag for like 10 years. We thought the world needed an instrumental record, and we had fun making it. — Marty

I called her SIS…..and, I’m going to miss her.
She was just one big ole heart full of love.
A beacon of pure light.
A well of goodness.
A once in a lifetime character the likes this world will never see again.
That’s Dolly Rebecca…..
To tell it exactly like it is.... Connie and I treat each and every day as if it were Valentine's Day, Christmas, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, the first day of spring — whatever. But, today is actually HER BIRTHDAY!!! That calls for a little hooping and hollering to honor one of the most beautiful souls in the world. Wherever you are, sing Happy Birthday to Connie today. Meanwhile, here are some twangified words I made up for the lady, my pal Eddie Stubbs refers to as the “Rolls-Royce of Country Singers.”
Set our peas in the pea patch
Even set out tomatoes
Can't go fishing with you boys
That'll have to wait till later —
'Cause I've gotta go sailing 'round
Sailing around the moon —
Sailing around the moon —
with my pretty little Constance June —
Fly away little bluebird
Way out across the ocean
Come on back and sing to me –
Anytime you take a notion –
Then we'll go sailing 'round –
Sailing around the moon –
Sailing around the moon with my –
Pretty little Constance June –
Happy Birthday Baby –
I love you to pieces,
Marty
As the sun was rising this past Sunday morning our bus was rolling through the beauty of Montana. Two eagles were floating above us to welcome me into the majesty of the Big Sky Country. I immediately sensed that I was dead center of what Native Americans call the Red Road. It's the Good Road of Life. I felt everything in my orbit find its pocket and hit the groove. Solid. I love eagles. They are my friends. They seem to telegraph good things to come. Sure enough, since that sunrise the Superlatives and I have played lots of good music, I had a great visit with Putt Thompson and had the privilege of holding some powerful Native American art in my hands, went to Little Big Horn, and last night in Boulder, Colorado I made a new friend.
Sitting patiently outside of my bus waiting to shake hands was Chief Calvin Standing Bear. Chief Standing Bear made and gifted me a beautiful chest plate. He also gifted me and the Superlatives recordings of him playing traditional flute. I asked the Chief, "If there was anything I could do for him?" He asked to hear the song "Badlands."
When I walked out onto the stage I noticed that the Chief was sitting front row, middle seat. When the time came for “Badlands" I introduced Chief Calvin Standing Bear to the audience. When the song began, he put on his bonnet and then stood and faced the crowd. He received a heartfelt standing ovation. His presence filled the room and gave the song an even greater sense of power. The Chief stood for the entire song. As I sang and played “Badlands" I kept my eyes on him. Chief Standing Bear strikes me as a humble man who possesses true nobility. A man of the past, present, and future. A leader who represents his people with dignity.
At the end of the song I stepped to the front of the stage and Chief Calvin Standing Bear and I shook hands — it was a lifetime handshake. No words were required. All was understood. As the last notes of music faded and the house lights came up I noticed a crowd of people gathered around the Chief. And then, under the cover of darkness, I took the Red Road to Denver and Chief Standing Bear took the Red Road home —
