It’s 3PM and Vicentia is standing on the balcony like life paused for buffering.
She’s been waiting since morning.
Last night, she boldly removed Do Not Disturb before sleeping because Valentine’s Day deserves accessibility. You can’t be loved in airplane mode.
No rider has called.
No “I’m downstairs, babe.”
Nothing.
She checks WhatsApp.
Her boyfriend was last seen 15 minutes ago.
Her chest tightens.
“Something must be wrong.”
She starts doing mental gymnastics.
“Is today the day I officially gnash on Valentine’s even though I have a boyfriend?”
She refreshes Instagram.
Refreshes X.
Refreshes WhatsApp again.
Still nothing.
Just as she’s about to start composing a sad-girl voice note in her head, her roommate suddenly starts screaming inside the house.
“EEEEIIII!!! VICENTIAAAAA!!!”
Vicentia’s face lights up like ECG just spiked.
Ah.
This must be it.
Obviously, it’s a surprise. Her boyfriend probably coordinated something dramatic with the roommate. Men love theatrics when it’s Valentine’s.
She fixes her wig.
Pushes the boobs forward a little.
Practices her “Oh my God babe 🥹” in the mirror.
She had already alerted Sika Official and two bloggers earlier:
“Please be on standby, something might drop.”
Because if love is happening, content must happen too.
She walks into the room, smiling already.
Then she sees her roommate glued to her phone, shaking.
Not crying.
Not laughing.
Just shocked.
“Vicentia… come and see oo.”
Vicentia leans over.
On the screen is a trending video.
Her boyfriend.
Standing beside a brand-new car.
Big ribbon on top.
Another girl hugging him like rental.
Caption everywhere:
“Businesswoman surprises boyfriend with brand new car on Valentine’s Day 😍🔥”
Vicentia zooms in.
It’s him.
Same forehead.
Same chain.
Same shirt he wore last Sunday.
In the video, his friends are shouting in the background:
“If she wanted, she will!”
“A woman who knows what she wants!”
“Madam spoil there rough!”
“Nobody shows up for you like your woman!”
Vicentia watches it all with tears quietly gathering in her eyes.
Her phone starts buzzing.
Friends.
Group chats.
Even her auntie from Kasoa.
Nobody is asking “are you okay?”
Everybody is sending the same video.
Her roommate whispers:
“Apparently the girl bought him a car. It’s everywhere.”
Vicentia sits on the edge of the bed slowly.
No tears.
No shouting.
Just silence.
Then she opens WhatsApp.
Her boyfriend is now online.
She types:
“Nice car.”
.@moliymusic sat down with Billboard for a round of Playlist Picks and put us on to some of the tracks she’s been running back lately, and trust, you won’t guess her choices.
