@PCassidy24 Can argue that the crosses were low percentage, but sitting so deep and giving LASK repeated opportunities to attack the box, made the late stages unnecessarily difficult for themselves. Yes the substitution was to protect the box, but doing so surrendered too much possession.

@PCassidy24 Changed the dynamic of the game though.
Bringing Nurray on Celtic naturally dropped deeper, had less of an outlet and invited LASK to push more players forward, which created this sustained pressure late on.

But out of interest I like to dissect what where why and when it went seriously wrong.
But agree, everyone needs to take blame as a whole, nothing to do with individuals. Blame lies from top to bottom of the club.

Playing to a hobbling Hogh. Celtic right winger was playing full back for 40/50 minutes.
Celtic were so deep there wasn’t other options at times but had to shell the ball constantly to relieve pressure.
No wonder he had so many turnovers.

@SeanDevenney7 I get that. But that’s a split second where he just comes within his eyeline from behind.
Smart movement from LASK there, behind the goal was loud also so potentially couldn’t hear clear communication - but Mccowan unaware of the man on the inside alone for me!

@londonbomber1 Id much rather my defender, defending the danger inside the box, as I’m comfortable knowing he’ll probably defend better than my midfielder. And I’d rather have my midfielder higher to press the midfield opponent.
I’m not overly comparable with my 10 defending in that area.

@londonbomber1 Agree James there’s definitely two ways you can look at it.
However, would you want a defender coming outside the box to close down a midfielder in this situation? Or would you prefer a midfielder doing that role? 1/2

@celtic_thoughts Btw, Duran makes up more space between him and the wide player as you’d be asking Murray to make between him and his closest man. He just simply doesn’t do it. Probably thinks the front post zone is more important, but imo it’s more important to prevent the danger in the overload

@celtic_thoughts He’s had alot of time to go with him but? He comes into Mccowans eye line just about the same time you screenshotted this, he runs from behind Mccowan onto his right shoulder then curves his run.
I think Murray had plenty of time to go there, like in this still photo.

@Dazzler1888 To be fair, there was so many times the ball went to Hogh in the air and there were 2/3 runners off him. Looked as though Celtic had been practicing those type of attacking combinations.
However, Hogh failed to meet the ball, and the runners behind were being caught on counter.

@raisedonceltic7 Got to consider why they lost posession though. Every ball forward was a turnover in posession.
They had nobody forward to find a successful pass. Duran was stuck at right back and Hogh couldn’t run.

@thomasg02908855 @arron1s Agree. Just made a post detailing exactly as you said. Murray needs to take some blame, as does the goalkeeper.
Whether tactically instructed to sit narrow I’m not sure, but absolutely wild we brought on a CB to cover Donovan.

At this point before Ralston came on, Dane Murray is Celtic’s right back here?

Do you think there’s an argument though, when you asses Mcgregor’s position that he pushes Murray across and he drifts into the same area Murray is to protect the front post.
If you watch again, you can already see him doing this. Just not quick enough.

@rossbrogan_ross I like to look at things as possibilities.
There’s an argument that he could’ve dropped in quicker. But the possibility of leaving the midfielder M.Usor free on the edge, who btw was their most dangerous player - rated 8.7 on the night, some simple organisation solves this.

@OCEIRIN7 Targets were massive for this game.
Especially the AJ injury and the Sarrachi scenario. The Engels sale. Three areas of the park that arguably cost Celtic their place in the competition on Tuesday night, while had weeks to months to find a solution. Very very poor.

@kenthehorse Hard to be too critical. He’s come on at 3-1 down in the tie. Need to consider the options he had ahead of him for most of the time he was on the park - nothing. Duran was sucked in, and Hogh could barely run.
Think some are being inconsiderate of the circumstances on the night.

@kenthehorse As I said previous to others, I think it was past the point of attempt.
He’s been asked to do the job of two players here, caught in between two possibilities. And unfortunately he’s taking the heat for it!

The moment of which you’ve screenshotted, the LASK player has just come inside Mccowans right shoulder at this point, he thinks Murray is following.
Mccowans man is left at edge of the box.
