Dear Canada,
I'm a proud Nova Scotian. Grew up in Truro. Stand up for the place. Always pumped when I get back home. Root for most of our athletes from NS. It's like a kinship.
Met and interviewed Jacob Shaffelburg (Port Williams, N.S.) earlier this spring at the Copa qualifier before he scored the goal. A likable kid. We connected on mutual people and our home province roots. Shaffelburg is a stud, pure baller, will absolutely be a pillar of the national team's future.
BUT, for all things Bluenose, Stanfield's underwear, Peggy's Cove, Keith's and Cabot Trail, and last-call-at-The-Lower-Deck, let's lose the 'Maritime Messi' nonsense. PLEASE.
We are all better than this.
Sincerely,
A broken man on a Halifax pier.
I hate seeing people talk shit about Toronto like they know it. If you live in Toronto you know how special of a place it is and how passionate the people are #GeauxCanada#GeauxBlueJays 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Let me be clear. If the Toronto Blue Jays get either Juan Soto or Shohei Ohtani I will legit cry of happiness. This will be the greatest moment of my life ahead of the birth of my future child
The #CanMNT have to do everything in their power to get to the 2024 Copa América
A chance to play the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Colombia, Peru, Chile and even US/Mexico would be key
Need as many competitive games vs tier one opponents as possible
The beauty and curse of the World Cup…every moment means something…and it can be over in an instant.
Obviously this is not how any Canadian wanted it to go…but retweet if you are still proud of the boys 🇨🇦
Good luck to Canada today who have a special fan on their side in this WC
“At the World Cup I’m supporting Canada, they haven’t qualified in many years & it’s my second home.
I’ll be there with a Canada shirt on” 🇨🇦
