And yet the authors of our Constitution were very insistent and clear that our system of government is not a democracy. I will certainly not read a book, but I'll listen to one. Do you have one that will enlighten me on how our republican form of government is actually a democracy? I will suggest you read the Federalist Papers, especially number 10, to educate yourself on our political system. Having democratic elements does not make a political system a form of democracy. A question that highlights the difference: on what CAN the American people vote directly on a federal level? Can you think of a single solitary example? We don't even elect our President directly.
