Started reading Animorphs after seeing that thread of the craziest thing in each book. I'm only 2 books in, but I can already confidently say that it jusy scratched the surface of how crazy it gets.

To put It to perspective, River city ransom is the american sequel to Kunio kun. Kunio is the basically the first beat em up as we know it. They took what they learned making that game and made Double Dragon after. This man is very important to video games. RIP, sincerely

『ホーム』を失ったすべてのゲーマーへ。
古参からどうしても伝えておきたい「居場所」に関する残酷な真実があります。

学校や仕事が終わり、いつもの道を歩いて、いつものゲーセンのドアを開ける。
もしあなたが「明日も100円玉を積めば、この日常が永遠に続く」という甘い認識のまま、ある日突然、店のシャッターに貼られた「閉店のお知らせ」の白い張り紙を見てしまうと……

「家庭でも職場でもない『ただの自分』でいられる唯一の避難所（サードプレイス）を根こそぎ奪われ、行き場のない亡霊として現実世界を永遠に彷徨う」ことになります。

① 「ホームゲーセン」という名の不可侵領域と、サードプレイスの正体

まず大前提として、過去における「ゲーセン」は、単なるゲームを遊ぶための施設ではありませんでした。その時はだれもそれを認識はしていませんが。
家庭（第1の場所）のしがらみからも、学校や職場（第2の場所）の重圧やヒエラルキーからも完全に切り離された、第3の居場所（サードプレイス）なのです。
そこでは、日中どんなポンコツ営業マンであろうと、テストの点数が赤点だろうと、ひきこもりや不登校だろうと関係ありません。「対空の精度が高い」「差し返しが上手い」「音ゲーのヒドゥンプレイの精度がやばい」というただ一点のみで、見知らぬ他者から無言の敬意(ギャラリー承認)を集めることができた聖域です。
社会的地位が完全にリセットされるその場所は、現代人が正気を保つための生命維持装置として機能しています。ガンダム勢は猿に戻ります。

② シャッターに貼られた「白い紙」がもたらす、魂の強制退去

聖域は決して永遠ではありません。
昨今の電気代高騰、筐体価格の高騰、そしてオンライン対戦の普及。ゲーセン経営は常に薄氷を踏むような状態です。
昭和の100円、平成の100円、令和の100円…同じ100円玉でも価値が変化しています。しかし筐体はコイン1枚を1クレジットの入場券としか判定しないのです。
ある日、あなたがいつものように足を運ぶと、入り口に1枚の白いコピー用紙が貼られています。「長らくのご愛顧、誠にありがとうございました。〇月〇日を持ちまして……」。
昭和には無かった消費税。税込み100円は本体91円。令和の91円じゃコンビニのおにぎりも食べられなくなりました。
閉店告知のその瞬間から、常連たちは皆、まるで親族の葬式に参列するような顔で集まり始めます。
そして閉店の最終日。いつも通りの閉店の音楽とアナウンスが流れ、バチッという音とともにすべての筐体の電源が落とされた時、あなたたちは物理的な空間だけでなく、「そこでしか息ができないエラ呼吸だったゲーセン魂の酸欠」で喪失感を味わうのです。

③ 「オンラインでいいじゃん」無神経な言葉と絶望

ホームを失ったあなたに対し、ゲームをやらない外野の人間は無邪気にこう言うでしょう。
「今は家でネット対戦できるんでしょ？ 何が悲しいの？」と。
彼らは全く理解していません。ランクマッチの画面越しでは、あの「筐体越しに伝わる殺気」や「負けた相手が舌打ちしながら両替機に向かう哀愁の背中」、そして「副流煙で寿命を縮めながらする1プレイ」は決して摂取できないということを。
ゲームというデータで遊んでいたのではありません。「ゲーセンという空間に集まる人間関係のバグ」を楽しんでいたのです。物理的なサードプレイスを失ったゲーマーは、快適すぎるオンラインの海で、かえって窒息しかけることになります。

④ 居場所を失った現代人が陥る「亡霊化」という末路

ホームゲーセンという心のフィルターを失った後、何が起こるか。
仕方なく別の大型店舗に遠征してみても、そこでは誰もあなたのプレイスタイルを知りません。あなたはただの「見知らぬお客様A」になり下がり、猛烈な疎外感に襲われます。
現実世界でのストレスを中和してくれる場所がなくなった結果、仕事や家庭の理不尽な重圧をノーガードで食らい続け、やがて精神のスタン値が限界に達します。
街を歩いていても、かつてゲーセンだった場所が小洒落たドラッグストアやコンビニに変わっているのを見るたびに、見えない筐体の幻影を探してしまう亡霊と化すのです。老害おじはダークサイドに落ちた魔物であり、過去を探し続ける亡霊です。

「ホームゲーセン」を始めとするサードプレイスは、あなたがあなたらしく生きるために用意された奇跡の空間であり、いつか必ず失われる残酷な砂の城。
まだ「ホーム」があるのなら、今一度その尊さを噛み締めておきましょう。

以前パチ屋さんだった場所が老人ホームになっていました。パチ屋さんの常連だった老人たちが一斉にボケ始めたので昨今厳しくなってきたパチ経営を退き、同じ会社が老人ホーム経営に舵を切ったそうです。家族は「おじいちゃんたち結局ずっと同じ空間にいるね。」と言っています。それはそれで幸せなのかもしれません。
