Welcome to the Drifters official Twitter page! We are a group of research scientists and students based in Nipaluna/ Tasmania @imas_utas studying all things #Zooplankton. We mostly focuses on the Southern ocean but also venture into the temperate waters around our little island.
👏 Congrats to AAPP/@IMASUTAS PhD student Pimnara ‘Nia’ Riengchan on landing an award from the Holsworth Wildlife Research Endowment. Nia studies how ocean acidification affects the shell-building of planktonic sea snails (pteropods) in the Southern Ocean.

We are very proud of Drifters lab member @sylvie_king_ who travelled to Germany to present the initial results of her research at the #IGSSeaICE conference. Such an exciting opportunity!
Come join our lab group!
Are you interested in a phd looking at zooplankton and ocean productivity? Then we have just the project for you!
Full details of the project can be found below:

I presented my first poster of my PhD the other week at the @Ant_Partnership annual workshop. I have attached a picture of it here if anyone is interested in what the @DriftersLab have been up to this year
Many #PhD opportunities looking at sea ice, Antarctic Bottom Water, krill, the Larsen C ice shelf, and many more! Includes AAPP top-up scholarship 🦐❄️🌊 @IMASUTAS

Welcome @CamiCM_ ! Camila's PhD project will use biomarkers to trace how changing sea ice affects the ecological roles of Antarctic krill and zooplankton in the Southern Ocean @weldrixx @IMASUTAS
Huge week for the Drifters this week! @svenja_halfter and Katy Baker set sail on the #rvinvestigator as part of the SOTS: automated moorings for climate and carbon cycle studies in the Southern Ocean voyage. We wish them smooth sailing and hope they have a successful trip!
✨GRADUATED✨ Drifters lab members Inessa Corney, Dr Cassie Pavez and Sylvie King (valedictorian) attended their graduations last night. Congratulations on successfully completing your studies!
In case you missed it! Drifters lab member @svenja_halfter was on the radio this morning discussing salps.
