@wisekaren I work at a good company and my colleagues and I fought that battle for a long time before giving up on it last year. Regular people know what it means. It’s only us language nerds who get cross-eyed over it. Colleague and I still grumble to each other though 😂
@DAnnerMitchell I like my PC. It works great for what an editor/writer needs and was MUCH less expensive than a Mac—an important factor for a freelancer.
Europeans' out of offices are like "I will not be working until 18 September. All emails will be automatically deleted."
Americans: "I am in the hospital. Email responses may be delayed by up to 30 mins. Sorry for the inconvenience! If urgent, please reach me in the ER at..."

@HashtagGrammar That’s exactly why I decided to take time off last week even though I couldn’t go anywhere. Ended up only doing a lot of reading and gardening and cooking, but I needed the distance.
I encourage all #freelancers to take a bit of time off during this stressful time—and honor it. Time off isn’t time off if you’re still checking emails or hopping on the computer “for a quick thing.” HUGS to all. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth#WellnessWednesday#selfcare
Taking time off this week. A client’s response: “Good for you! You’ll still take a look at that piece this week since you’re just staying home, though, right?” Um...no. Doesn’t matter if I’m “just” staying home, that defeats the whole purpose of time off. #freelancer#amediting
