🚨 Toni Kroos tells Marca: “Luis Enrique subbed out Ousmane Dembélé, his best player, in the 65th minute of a Champions League semi-final and nobody complained. He exits the pitch, shakes his coach’s hand and sits on the bench cheering his teammates. There are some counter examples to this.”
“You look at Ousmane Dembélé, and how he's yelling at his teammates to keep fighting, from the bench. That's not what 90% of players who think they're stars would do. They start to do bad gestures on the pitch, then sit on the bench sulking.”
🚨✊🏿 Vinicius: “I hope Lamine can continue this fight against racism as well. We have money, but poor black people have more difficulties than we do”.
“I’m not saying that Spain, Germany, or Portugal are racist countries, but there are racists in every country, and if we fight together, hopefully other players and people will stop suffering these things”.
The NY Post knows that a visual like this can create a false and harmful narrative. They know people will see a picture of a Black man above a picture of the suspect and assume he’s the shooter. He’s NOT. Joseph Oduro was the instructor and he’s a survivor.
When this story came out, I remember someone asked me “so, you really think the Louisiana State Police just LIED to go after Kyren bc they’re racist?”
And now you see WHY I believe that.
