@JesusS46122@Merrily_Meme@wifiejwn38 😂😂😂😂😂 nfl players are faster while weighing more and adding 20 pounds of equipment.
You Europeans are the most delusional people on planet earth
My theory is because soccer players don’t make any money, relatively. Vini Jr would be ~45th highest paid NBA player.
Donovan Mitchell isn’t even a top 10 player in the league and just signed for $70M a year. NBA role players are signing for 10-20M a season.
NFL players get paid noticeably more. Nailor was WR3 in Minnesota and signed for 3 year/35M (12M a season)
Soccer struggles because every European country has a top league that is respected. (Premier, La Liga, Ligue 1, Seria A, Bundesliga). Not to mention the divisions within each. Too many teams and players.
Pulisic plays for a top club in Seria A. The face of America soccer is making $8M a year.
Why would any kid / parent pick that? Get paid less AND you are at a severe training disadvantage compared to Europeans.
Do you know what’s happening in basketball? AAU, tournaments, paying for elite trainers. Many NBA draft picks come from money now / former players.
The cost of soccer isn’t the problem. Basketball is in the same boat. Soccer just isn’t the priority due to reasons I’ve explained.
Fair argument for once, but it’s exponentially harder to snag one of the top PL spots (~550 players). You’re going against an entire globe of talent.
NFL is 1700 spots and a couple million kids are playing.
Comparing PL players to a 6th round draft pick ain’t quite fair either.
@UnlimitedDennis Would be very cool to see. Once that happens, I guarantee we see our national team become a top 5 team in the world. Kids would have incentive to pick soccer
@ndlovsas@DJ_CPFC well I feel like size doesn’t matter in soccer because they tend to get the worst athletes.
If the MLS started paying NBA money, I guarantee in 10 years you’d see the physical specimens on the pitch.
@finfan3493@e10pat Good point. I think it’s because it’s the lowest barrier to entry sport.
Kids stop playing youth soccer the earliest and play for the shortest of the major sports.
@libertyforbrits They are traditionally shorter because the taller athletes are busy playing sports with higher earning potential.
The NBA has seen much more European talent over the years. Want to know why? Because the money is OUTRAGEOUS.
People follow the highest end money, first.
Sure, but there are hundreds of basketball leagues around the world too.
And is the chance truly greater? Hundreds of millions of kids play soccer. The odds of you making it to a Big 5 Euro league is way worse odds (PL, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serbia A, Bundesliga)
In America, the NFL is 1700 spots but you’re only competing with a few million American kids.
Why would an American kid pick up a soccer ball to compete with a kid from Brazil?
@1Youngtech_19@FplRobb@JohnJames348031 Gianluigi Buffon: (6'4")
Lev Yashin: (6'2").
Manuel Neuer: (6'4")
Peter Schmeichel: (6'4")
Lebron is significantly more agile, explosive with a longer wingspan.
The greatest goalies ever are tall. Kick rock’s Shane
A lot of people. Being good at Lacrosse in America means you’re still likely paying full price for college and have 0 chance at making a good living.
Would be a waste for a major talent. Obviously parents can tell very early if their kid is actually a good athlete or not. If they are average, let them do whatever they want.
Do you hear yourself? The popularity of a game with youth is a result of how much money the role model athletes make DUDE.
Soccer is lame in America because they don’t make any money. If the MLS was giving out $40M a year contracts, I bet soccer would become very cool overnight.
Europeans and South Americans live and breathe soccer because it’s the only sport they have.
Is cricket cool to your kids? Probably not, but go ask an Indian kid what he thinks of it.
@ThomCrooz Exactly and when you’re 5-10 years old it’s due to parental decisions.
What parent would actively choose soccer? Thier child has to live across the world and you make noticeably less money……?
