@ClareNash20 All such changes need some initial investment to reap long term gains. When we are fire fighting all the time and patching up things and have no such money to invest it is really hard to bring in changes.
@DinahMcL I do hope one day someone somewhere will think about leaders and managers. I hope one day some one will put in some support mechanism for them as well. They are also humans not 'super humans'. Hope, one day..........
@DinahMcL 3. It is then up to the person calling out poor behaviour to justify. A fee can even shed crocodile tears when questioned. I Dont cry "outwardly" but every time I see such behaviour or harm I do breakdown "somewhere on my own".
@DinahMcL 2. Yes I do feel frustrated when my team is brought in disrepute by poor behaviour of some. I do have high expectations. Mainly because I know we can. But then when I sometimes call out poor practice I am labelled as being aggressive or more commonly 'bully".
@DinahMcL 1. At the same time leadership is not equivalant to having power as some think. I have a lot of passion, Dont think have power. Passion not pressure sometime does drive frustration especially when I see basic things not being done appropriately and patients coming to harm.
@DinahMcL@doc_hnaqvi@chrisvthompson@subashken@doc_hnaqvi - we tried in the past and sadly failed. Let's have another shot at this. Happy to work with you and others to achieve what is right for patients and give them what they deserve - geriatric input. Thanks for doing this in your own time for long.๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
@doc_hnaqvi@johannenewens@SWBHnhs Wholeheartedly agree. They have done everything they can to keep the patients safe and at the same time looked after the staff and their well-being and also been really sensitive to JD's needs. Been a real previlidge.
@shorty_doc@dr_faisal_baig Absolutely agree and support the JD's whole heartedly. But it is important to remember that the consultants who are stepping down/up were all JD's once and have done it all. As we age some things become difficult and to do what consultants are doing now must be acknowledged.
Waiting for a time when the headlines will just read "we have a new PM" without the prefixes like Asian, brown, black, Hindu, Muslim, LGBT etc. why should these matter as long as the individual is capable and competent. We live in hope and I am an eternal optimist.
@strongminded101 Love this one. We are always taught patients come first. I am beginning to think both patients and colleagues should be treated as equals. There is enough space on the podium for everyone isn't it.
@KTheivendran@DrSelvarajah@LizWhizz@jasonwragg I came here much later but I have served NHS whole heartedly. I have been here for 20y. Given lot more to this country than to the county where I was born.Still some think I cannot be true to UK just because of my colour. I have relinquished everything I had and this is my home.
@ShivaniM_KC@pijush357ray Listening to this was painful & upsetting. We had someone come to ours to repair our AC yesterday. He said the same thing about Rishi and us. He sits on the board of a city council. He was angry that we seemed well off. It just increased my resolve to do more, more for NHS & UK.
Everyone was there: anaesthetists, admin team, intensive care colleagues, managers. C19 sadly compartmentalised my team. The recognition given over past few years to "the obvious" and not "the rest" widened the ravines. This brought all, past + present together without "any mask"
It was a Womens away day for anaesthesia and critical care colleagues. Men held the fort at work this afternoon, amazing pic and looks like the girls had a blast.
@LaverCup@doc_hnaqvi@rogerfederer What a man, what a player. Hero all the way. So honest and just no pretence. Not sure if there is a dry eye in the stadium. I have watched this over and over again. I can only cry in the washroom. My wife is wondering why I have been in there for so long.
@doc_hnaqvi It was so predictable though. Not undermining Ukraine at all and they have my full sympathy and backing. I sometimes feel that we let emotions take over. This means then talent takes a bit of backseat.
