Agriculture is the main source of employment and the first job for the majority of young Ugandans.
It provides the first job for about three-quarters (75%) of those aged 15-24 and absorbs a large share of 18-30-year-olds

It prevents even higher open unemployment by offering accessible livelihoods in a country where formal private-sector jobs are scarce.
