The S.E did not vote region centric in 2023. Obi took 89.6% there, but he also won the South South and got 33% in the North Central, with Tinubu at 5.8% in the S.E. A candidate who wins across zones is not a regional candidate. And a zone that refuses a party that offered it nothing is voting, not sulking. Nobody owes anyone the presidency, but nobody owes a party the vote either. Loyalty is earned in both directions.
@Tunde_oree@zamaneyweb3 Who talk say na criminality? Na your word be that. I talk patronage. The test na the same for everybody: the vehicle dey help the job or e dey buy loyalty? Judges' cars na work tools. Cars for defectors na reward. Same rule, different result. Try comprehend 😂
@Tunde_oree@zamaneyweb3 Nobody talk say na Obi pocket money. Na government money, and na there the difference dey. Public money for judges to do their work na governance. Public money to buy defectors na patronage. Same source, different purpose. Try comprehend 😂
Mate, calm down 😂😭. Getting emotional won’t make you any less wrong! There are levels to everything. I can give you a car to help you do your job better, or I can give you a car because I want something from you in return. Both are gifts, but the intentions are completely different. The gift is the same; the motive isn’t. Learn to separate generosity from political patronage.
Below is my response to this question from another user:

Peter Obi 2012, presented 21 vehicles to Anambra judges to support their work and improve justice delivery.
Compare that with today’s political gifting: vehicles distributed to reward defectors, buy loyalty and consolidate partisan power.
One is presented as support for public institutions. The other is political patronage dressed up as generosity.
Not all vehicle handouts are equal. Purpose matters. So does the public interest.

Charles, the terms are clear: a written commitment to an Igbo presidency, with a defined timeline and a credible guarantee. Not another promise to wait.
The South East has backed candidates from other zones for decades. What has it got in return? If Tinubu wants Igbo votes, put concrete, verifiable commitments on the table.
No region owns the presidency, and no region needs another’s permission to aspire to it.
So, what exactly are you offering the South East beyond another promise to wait its turn? And who gave any region the authority to decide when another is entitled to produce a president?
Charles, enough with the polite language.
The presentation has been made. Several South East governors sit in the APC. The zone's party leaders have already endorsed Tinubu in public. Igbo people have done the loyalty, the lobbying and the begging. And the party chairman's response was to tell the North that 2031 belongs to them.
So spare us the lecture on "presentation." What more should the East present? Their votes? They have given those since 1999 and still hold no presidency.
When the North asks for rotation, it is called an arrangement. When Igbo people ask, it becomes "entitlement." That double standard is the whole problem, and no polite wording will fix it.
Nobody calls the North adversarial for demanding terms. Nobody calls the South West counterproductive for doing the same. Only the Igbo are told to stay quiet, stay grateful and wait.
Enough. Igbo people have waited since 1999. If they must wait again, let it be on terms they wrote.
Ethnicity has nothing to do with this. Reasoning is not genetic, and that line says more about the argument than about Igbos.
To your question: yes, the same standard applies to anyone. If Tinubu or any governor bought 400 vehicles from a Nigerian manufacturer for traditional rulers, I'd say the same thing. Rulers and legislators are different, and each purchase is judged on its own merits. Obi isn't above criticism, but a 2012 state purchase isn't proof of hypocrisy over a 2023 federal N60bn spend.
Debate the facts. Leave the Igbos out of it.
@ewisdomdaily1@mo_tayo02 Which judges? The report and Obaze's own account both say traditional rulers. Nothing in them mentions judges. If you have a source for that, share it and I'll gladly engage with it. Claims need evidence, not guesses.
WHERE IS THE ORIGINAL SAHARA REPORTERS LINK?
A screenshot of a headline is not proof of Peter Obi’s exact words. Before calling him “useless” or accusing him of not caring if Nigerians die, produce the full report and the context.
Here are the facts: Onanuga’s call for the death penalty followed the discovery of a suspected counterfeit alcohol factory in Aba. His statement was a tweet, not an announcement of government policy.
The screenshot does not establish exactly what Obi said or what he was responding to. The claims about his wealth, medical treatment abroad, wife and children are the poster’s own additions, not evidence of Obi’s position on counterfeit products.
If the report exists, share the original link. If you cannot substantiate the claim, stop presenting it as fact.
Political accountability demands evidence, not manufactured outrage built around a screenshot.
Notice how the wait for 2031, take the VP seat, come back in 2039 offers only started flying once Peter Obi became the problem.
If Igbo people were truly irrelevant, nobody would be negotiating with them. Nobody drafts VP promises for a region that does not move the needle. Offers like this are what a camp makes when it is losing sleep. Obi won Lagos and the FCT in 2023. He is the one candidate who can cut into Tinubu's base, and everyone in the Tinubu camp knows it.
So the plan is to split the South East with a deputy seat dangled for 2031, a promise that costs them nothing today. The running mate is chosen by the candidate, so the guarantee is the favour of whoever wins.
Support Tinubu if you believe in his record. But do not tell Igbo people this is generosity. It is fear dressed up as a handshake.
Oga, laugh well well, but na you the joke dey fall on.
You say Ibo go wait 600 years. Na who tell you say Igbo people agree to wait? Na Soludo dey sell that wait, no be Ndigbo. Plenty Igbo people don openly reject am, so make you no put him mouth for their head.
If na craze to demand terms before you give your vote, make dem call am mad. But person wey don dey give vote for free since 1999 and still dey wait for 2039, na him get the real madness.
I no think say Igbo people go collect IOU again. Dem go collect agreement, or dem go collect absence for ballot if you ask me as in how nah when the strongest candidate nah Igbo man.
No guarantees" is exactly my point, Charles. You are asking a whole region to hand over its votes in exchange for nothing.
Strategic support means terms. Who commits, in what form, and by when? A 2039 handshake is not a strategy, it is a hope.
Also, which is it? If South East votes do not move the needle, why is the whole APC machine begging for them? You cannot call us irrelevant and indispensable in the same breath.
And let's not pretend Igbos never played the loyalty game. From 1999 to 2015, the South East was a PDP stronghold, backed Jonathan overwhelmingly, and still came away with no presidency. Loyalty without leverage gets you applause, not power.
The wilderness is not where you end up for demanding terms. It is where you end up for never asking.
2011 is the wrong example. Jonathan was the sitting president when the South West voted for him. Nobody asked them to wait 12 years for a promise. Soludo wants the Igbo to hand over votes now and collect later, with nothing in writing. He speaks for himself and his party, not for Ndigbo. The South East has had no president since 1999, and 'trust us' is not a plan. If he thinks he speaks for the Igbo, let him test it at the polls.
