ਗਿਆਨੀ ਰਘਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਨੋਟ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਸਾਰਾ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਦੇਸਾਂ ਵਿ�� ਵੱਸਦੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਘਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਤਿਰੰਗੇ ਝੰਡੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ 76 ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ 15 ਅਗਸਤ 1947 ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇਸ਼ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ 14 ਅਗਸਤ 1947 ਨੂੰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਜ਼੍ਹਬ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਇਕੋ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਹਿੱਕ ‘ਤੇ ਲਕੀਰਾਂ ਖਿੱਚ ਕੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ 10 ਲੱਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਗੁਆਉਣੀਆਂ ਪਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਡੇਢ ਕਰੋੜ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾੜੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪ���ਆ। ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਦੇ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਤਾਂ ਮਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੋਚੀਏ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਲਹੂ-ਲੁਹਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਤੇ 10 ਲੱਖ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਬੇਕਸੂਰ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਯਾਦ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ? ਸਭ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦਾ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਮਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਕਿ ਹੈ ਰਾਜ-ਭਾਗ ਮਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਜਾੜੇ ਗਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੋ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਜਲੀ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀ ਆਖਦੇ।
ਆਉ 1947 ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ, ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਜਾਨੋਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰਧਾਮਾਂ ਨਨਕਾਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਡੇਹਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਲਾਹੌਰ, ਕਰਤਾਰਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਪੰਜਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਧਾਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਤੀਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਮਾਰੀਏ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਛੱਡ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ। ਆਓ! ਭਾਰਤ-ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਬੇਗੁਨਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰੀਏ ਕਿ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਸੌੜੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਬੇਗੁਨਾਹ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਨਾ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਵੱਸੇ।
Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib issued a press note and said that today the entire country of India and Indians living abroad celebrate the joy of independence by hoisting tricolor flags on their vehicles and houses. On this date, 76 years ago on August 15, 1947, India became independent, while a day before that, on August 14, 1947, Pakistan came into existence. One million people had to lose their lives and one and a half crore had to face displacement in exchange for the birth of India and Pakistan by drawing lines on a single piece of land of Hindustan on the basis of religion. Every year, the people of India and Pakistan celebrate the Independence Day, but let us think that on this day Punjab was bloodied and nearly 10 lakh innocent people were killed, why they do not remember those people who were killed on this day? Everyone is celebrating independence and the people who are enjoying the statehood do not even say two words of remembrance for the people who were killed and displaced during the partition of India and Pakistan.
Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib appealed to have a look in the past to remember the Punjabis who were killed during the partition of 1947, the beloved Gurdhams (Sikh shrines) of Sikh community Nankana Sahib, Dehra Sahib Lahore, Kartarpur Sahib, Panja Sahib and see what we have left behind. He called upon to remember the millions of innocents who were killed during the partition of India-Pakistan, and pray to God that innocent people never again fall prey to narrow politics and that all people live in peace.
