@dietdhokla gay men this, gay men that, but some of the most misogynistic, homophobic BS ever spoken comes out of the mouths of straight women on the DAILY. interesting how no one ever talks about that huh?
@Reverie476@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ I'm going based on the literal textbook definition of nationalism. nationalism isn't inherently extremist, but I think you're perspective is attributing it to be that way.
@Reverie476@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ Any group can do this though. Any movement can start off well, and slowly develop into a harmful, discriminatory association. that doesn't mean that they should all be perceived negatively because of a hypothetical scenario where they take a turn for the worst.
@Reverie476@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ This can be true, but the movement finished and never reached that point, so slandering it and attributing it to White Nationalism or Nazism,as an example even is ignorant.
@Reverie476@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ (Black nationalism is a social and political movement that seeks economic, cultural, and political empowerment and self-determination for Black people as a distinct group, rather than pursuing racial integration.) Textbook definition dawg
@BobMacabre6669@Reverie476@Mayeezy_ Cool article, but we're discussing the Black Nationalist movement's values as a collective, not the subgroups that had differing views depending on which you spoke to. Lot's the of Jewish opposition from these groups also came from Jewish benefit from white supremacy
@Reverie476@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ No one is arguing that an oppressed group can't have bad apples and bad movements; however, slandering the name of an already existing, retired activist movement is ignorant and disrespectful.
@Reverie476@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ You may be misunderstanding me and many other people. The Black Nationalist movement we are referring to is the movement that existed during the Civil Rights period. In their time of existence, they DID NOT uplift values/ideas comparable to Nazis.
@Reverie476@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ You've still failed to give concrete examples of the American Black Nationalist movement of upholding values that were on par with Nazism. Also, the 1950s-60s American Civil Rights movement utilized values from the Black Nationalist movement, and they had power and influence.
@L_John_LENINIST@ElCoquitito black power sucks because it gave black Americans an outlet to free themselves from oppression, create art and culture, and unite many generations of Americans, regardless of race, into an understanding that racial discrimination was immoral? ok lol
@BobMacabre6669@Mayeezy_ explain how it's bad and wrong, but not based in hypothetical ideas. give us some real concrete examples of the American Black Nationalist movement being inherently bad.
@L_John_LENINIST@ElCoquitito I'll school you babe. black nationalism derives from an accumulation of perspectives from black Americans about how to move away from a collective American identity and into a uniquely Black American one. The Black Power movement derives from Black Nationalism(Garveyism)
@OnlySkyKimi i think many people's concern for culture appropriation is that people often forget what the original culture actually was in relation to the new, melded culture presented to them. As a result, the people associated with the original culture are totally ignored.
@AndreSilvio3@ALEXG00NCAYA0 im genuinely sorry to hear that. I'm not necessarily excusing it; however, I'm curious as to how Americans are supposed to be aware of these things if it's not easily available to us? a Google search, sure, but how would we even know what to Google?
