@Media_Barber @thnorfar @JoveStickel @MrsPazMPS @LeahRossHenry@tiffanytruitt I have been sending grade reports each week to both students and parents and encouraging them to let me know what their situation is!
@thnorfar @DonnaWeth@LeahRossHenry@tiffanytruitt It has been such a cool opportunity to pull together as a team! That is awesome that you guys were able to reach all of them so quickly!
#sunchat A goal I have for this week is to find a more efficient and creative way to teach lessons for my classes. I think consistency is key, but I also want them to still be engaged! (easier to change things up in the classroom!)
@thnorfar Each day they enter classroom and have a lesson to watch/ activities, but when I Google Meet about 30% of the kids show up for questions! How has your first week been?
@thnorfar That has been one of the most challenging parts for me!
Our school is about to start our 4th week online teaching and setting office hours/ staying consistent with times that our class meets has really helped! I have started using the mornings to get outside!
@teachmbw@MeghanM34399187 That is where I am at as well- I think I will need to be calling to show it is important to me! I just cannot pursue students in the same way as I did in class (they had to come!)
@teachmbw@MeghanM34399187 For parents, I am emailing. Students- I meet on Google Meet or email! I have not called. Perhaps that should be my next step?
Q2: Perhaps having a warm-up that has some fun fact that draws in the concepts they've reviewed - leave it on the board so they can reference the foundational skills#Nt2t
@PMcPeake1 some of them! Algebra II and Trig are & those are the classes I am finding it most challenging to encourage them to challenge themselves & realize it's okay to not immediately understand a problem
#Nt2t I teach upper level math and I have struggled to engage students once they encounter a problem that they do not immediately know what to do with- any thoughts/suggestions? I keep emphasizing the quality of endurance that math strengthens!
@katheri00478527 @stephwurking I find it helpful to have students draw pictures of the word problems or write their own & swap to help them engage. Or just having circuits set up so as they solve the word problem, they find the solution on another piece of paper and move there
Hi #Nt2t! I'm Gabie Drummer and I'm a first year teacher in Pottstown, PA. That is a great refocus for this week- despite the challenges of going online; it has been an awakening transition
