@Troubaduo @curtbisq This is under the assumption that the band, the part made of actual trained musicians, is somehow “lost”, and the singer somehow has it together. This is not the usual case, by any stretch of the imagination.

@Rim_Shot70 @curtbisq Good time is everyone’s responsibility. And no, I’m not waiting for the singer, of all people, to tell me where I am, unless they are also the songwriter, and have demonstrated their authority on the subject. In most bands I’ve played for, the singer is in no such position.

@curtbisq I do not care. I am the drummer, and I’m either setting it off properly, or if it’s Jazz, taking the vocalist’s drunken count-off, and making a solid style out of it. It will not mess me up, nor will I allow it to mess up the band. No vocalist has that power, ever. Period.

@curtbisq When you say “in charge of the tempo”, are you just referring to who counts off the tune at the start, or who’s responsible for keeping good time in music? I do hope you aren’t implying that only one person is keeping time in the band, and that person is the vocalist! 😳🤣
